Unchecking the status/Add-on bar icon and the context menu option appears to change the about:config settings but those options remain enabled and are rechecked by default.

This works exactly as I expected. Well done.
Smaller font size, minimized icon size, extra details are hidden until you need them, see many more extensions at once.

I recently started seeing phantom messages on several newsgroups but the current version 1.2 isn't clearing then in TB version 2.0.0.22 (20090605)

I've tried many and this is the first RSS feedreader to satisfy both my needs and my preferences! Wonderful!
I especially enjoy the ability to click on an article and see just a text summary, then I can open the full article in another tab if I want to read it. That feature alone is a major time saver.
