I can confirm that Google sync resumes to work again if I set general.useragent.compatMode.firefox to false (= the default - I had set it to true before).

What can we do to motivate you to upgrade to TB 78? There is NO quota add-on for TB 78 currently!

I installed and tested 0.5.3 - it's marvellous, about everything is working now! Even the note's position is restored (like in XNote++ before) - after you've set its position once using QNote.
One thing strange though: when I change tabs in Thunderbird (e.g. from [Inbox] to [Add-ons]) while a QNote is open, this note is kept open in the new tab. XNote++ closed the note as soon as the tab changed.

Some hints and observations.
@GetSat (2) You can add a new tag (e.g. 'XNote') using the tag manager (on the main menu). Then "Use tag [XNote]" in the Add-On settings for QNote, don't forget to [Save].
@GetSat (3) Martins (developer) says: "Popup positions currently can't be set due to API limitations"
@GetSat Re "Import old XNotes and to export QNotes": QNote uses the same file format as XNote++ does. If you edit the Add-On settings / Storage: (o) Local folder e.g. /home/<user>/.thunderbird/12345678.default-release/QNote you will see .xnote files in this folder, just like under XNote++. You may also copy your existing xnote files
into the folder and you will revive your notes under QNote.
@Brother Rabbit: using Add-On settings / Storage: (o) Local folder e.g. /home/<user>/.thunderbird/12345678.default-release/QNote is good to receive all your existing .xnote (XNote++) files. After that you will see all your existing notes appear in QNote.

I've run your qnote-0.2-tb.xpi through https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/f1c5560a7107ff9eb47f7c04b670297d9918aeb01f4aa36280e37824840ee584/detection , it's clean. I also recognized that you did not attempt the _locales yet, otherwise it looks fine.

I'm using it as a (very good) replacement for Message Notes Plus, the notes addon I was using before it was rendered obsolete by TB68++.
I've written a converter from Message Notes Plus to XNote++ to keep my MNP notes, see https://github.com/alehro/message-notes-plus/issues/3

I was able to move my Message Notes to XNote++, another note extension for Thunderbird that also works for TB 68 and higher.
You need to locate your messagenotesplus.sqlite in the TB profile folder to extract the notes. I can add technical details of the conversion if someone is interested.

Very useful Add-on, sad it does not work any more. Can we do something to motivate you to update it for new Thunderbird?

Remove Duplicate Messages

You did a great job - thanks! The add-on works just fine and very quick for my some hundred mails.

Yet it took me some time to find out (by reading other comments) that I need to remove the checkmark on "skip special folders". Before I did that I tried hard to remove duplicates on my imap account (using special folders) with no success and also no message from the add-on except "Looking for duplicates".
I would prefer that you choose the default as "skip special folders" = NO.

By the way the German translation lacks some strings in "...extensions\{a300a000-5e21-4ee0-a115-9ec8f4eaa92b}\chrome\removedupes.jar\locale\de-DE\removedupes\removedupes-prefs.dtd"
