Five stars when it worked, but that stopped with Supernova. The author says that it's no longer necessary, but this simply isn't the case. Many people are like me and want to have the Unified Toolbar between the Menu Bar and the Tab Bar. In fact, There's even a website devoted to making that change using CSS Stylesheet Code support (I don't know if Mozilla allows inclusion of website addresses in these reviews, so I won't do so.) If this extension was under development again and it could do this, I guarantee that it would be a very popular extension indeed.

This has been a mighty useful add on. Thanks to the Dev for all your hard work.

I notice that some folks have commented that they want to still have the menu bar at the top- see here for a solution https://www.askvg.com/tip-how-to-move-menu-bar-at-top-in-mozilla-thunderbird/

You say
" This add-on will become obsolete with the new Thunderbird UI "Supernova" that will be released with Thunderbird 115 in summer 2023, as that new design already moves the tabbar above the toolbar, in addition to introducing space-sensitive toolbar buttons. "
I don't understand
I want that :
Menu bar
then
tollbar
then
Tabbar
Thunderbird 115 doesn't do that.

Questo utente ha inserito una recensione precedente su questo componente aggiuntivo.

Thunderbird 115 does move the toolbar over the tabbar. You should have the Toolbar on top (with window features: close, minimize, etc.), followed by the menu bar (hidden by default) and the tab bar (hidden unless there are two or more tabs).

The position of the menu bar has never been influenced by this add-on. All it did was move the toolbar up (hence the name), and in 115 the toolbar is already at the very top.

I personally am not sure if moving the menu bar down was a good choice, but I'm giving the new design a chance first. If there are indeed use cases that truly benefit from reverting the change, I'm sure there will either be a core option or an add-on doing so at some point in the not-too-far future.

If you already decided that you can't live with the change, see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1422908 for a css hack.

(Sorry for messing up the add-on description, of course the new design moves the *toolbar* above the *tabbar*, not vice-versa. I corrected the description now.)

Thanks for updating this for TB 102, but unfortunately, it doesn't work automatically at start up. I need to deactivate then reactivate this addon to move the toolbar back to the top each time I launch Thunderbird.

Ratings are not good places for error reports. I cannot reproduce this one on Linux x64 with Thunderbird 102.0. Write me an email instead with more details (error console log after startup? Does the add-on work in newly opened windows?), then I might have a look.

Perfect. It works exactly as it's supposed to in TB 91

Thanks for this great add-on which fills an important gap left by Mozilla developers: letting the users to choose where the tab bar should better be.
And works in Thunderbird v78.x, too.

Absolutely loved this add-on. I hate having the tabs above the mail toolbar. BUT, it no longer works in Thunderbird 68.12.1. PLEASE update it to work again. PLEASE!

Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (2.0.0.0) del componente aggiuntivo.

I do not see any problems in 68.12.1 – assuming you use the correct version of the add-on (1.2.0.2). The latest version of Rise of the Tools (2.0.0.0) is for Thunderbird 78 only, which uses a new add-on interface.

(Also: please do not report bugs in ratings. There is a contact email address on the right side of the add-on page – the rating feature is not designed for conversations.)

Nice extension usually. But needs updating? Doesn't show as being incompatible with Thunderbird v78.x but doesn't appear to work either.

Perfect. Thanks for keeping TBird first-class. This capability is important to me. BTW: Finding this add-on was a bit tricky - my typical TBird Add-on searches didn't display it. Web searches did. Strange.

This is due to the fact that Mozilla actively prevents users from finding addons that do not pass a so-called "full review". A full review requires an add-on to not trigger compatibility issues, and moving a toolbar has tons of possible issues. Thus, this add-on is marked as experimental (which is a good thing, as it indeed is likely to break stuff) and not available for in-application searching (which is imho a bad thing, but I guess we can be happy that Mozilla permits such add-ons at all).

I like new things and don't mind changes. But ever since the "tabs" came up, I had 2-3 millimeters to grab the stupid window and move it around on my desktop. What a crock! I don't know how many times I detached my calendar tab or some other tab to a "new window" just because I did not make it into the 2-3 mil "safe" zone that was the window header bar. What a bunch of bull for a user interface! This extension restores the sanity and lets you navigate around much more safely by avoiding unexpected unpleasantness. Very, very, very much appreciated. Give this one a 5-star any day! PS: search for"rise" does not yield anything... Don't know why... seems unique enough... search for "tools" and you'll find it. Pleasant emailing... -ml

Like many, many others, I don't care for the "tabs on top" user interface. I was really grateful that someone had written an add-on which restores the original UI!

When changes in Thunderbird 38 broke this add-on on the Mac, I contacted its developer directly, who promptly responded with a fix for the problem!

Highly recommended as an add-on for doing its job flawlessly, and kudos to rsjtdrjgfuzkfg for being fantastically responsive to my bug report.

I've been trying to get my Thunderbird's tabs down where they belong ever since the TB "developers" decided to screw them up. I've always searched for some variation of "tabs" and "down", when I should have been searching for "toolbar" and "menubar" "up". I must improve my google-fu ...!!

Anyway, this add-on work just fine with TB 38.3.0, running the TT DeepDark theme. Does just what it says, without a bunch of settings or extra cruft to sort thru.

Now let's see how long it will keep working as I hear tell that the "developers" are trying to do away with add-ons for Firefox, and presumably, Thunderbird in the next year ... sigh ...!

Thank you so very much !!!

Updated TB and voila - new UI means buttons disappear behind window functionality buttons on top left. Disabled all other add-ons and restarted TB but nothing helped. Note that the latest update was in 2012.

Feel free to send me a detailed bug descriptions via eMail, Ratings are not designed for bug reports and thus not really usable for discussion.

Regarding the latest update: up to now, the old version worked perfectly. So I didn't see a reason to publish any update for the sake of updating.

I liked Thunderbird and Firefox just the way they were years ago, so anything that helps me get back to that is greatly appreciated. Works fine, no restart, just as described!

Awesome - thanks for helping to tell the developers where to stuff it!

Wished the Thunderbird and Firefox developers would grow some balls and stop copying Google!

Brilliant extension, combined with a theme that kills the Chrome-style title-bar, Thunderbird is now usable. You have helped save my sanity.
