CheckPlaces

Noté 3 sur 5 étoiles

This extension is really useful. It is well designed, easy to use yet has a lot of good features. I would do a few comments to improve it further:

- it could automatically detect keyword searches (with %s and a keyword) and should not report 404 errors in these cases

- It should not show the menu each time the extension is run. Just run it.

- There is no need for a submenu in the places window with a single element. Clicking on the button should launch the verification, or there should be more than one button (i.e. there could be an "options" button)

- When starting the verification, it shows a negative number (something like -15/200, but it goes fast so that's hard to say). Then in the results, it shows Bookmarks: 200 Pages: 215. There is probably some bug here.

Anyway, it's already a pretty good extension.

SendVia

Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

SendVia is a simple yet very useful add-on for those who use more than one SMTP server to send their mails. It works perfectly well. However, it adds a pointless self-reference in the drop-down menu, and uses the "Options" button in the add-on manager entry to display an "About" window. The french localization is of decent quality, even though it contains a few typos (use of three points instead of an ellipsis, with a misplaced space before the ellipsis; additionally there shouldn't be any ellipsis after the about entry). These issues are minor but nonetheless prevent me from giving the best mark.

Zotero

Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

Some notes :
- It would be useful to hide the toolbar that shows up when snapshots are displayed. It takes too much place in my low-sized laptop screen. Either by an option to disable it completely, or it could be integrated directly in Zotero's window, perhaps above the right pane (item/snapshot details) that is nearly empty?
- I would like to be able to open a snapshot in a new tab by middle clicking on the file in the central pane (items and snapshots list). Currently the only way I found is to open a new tab and then double-click on the snapshot.
- I wish Zotero could be displayed in a tab (instead of fullscreen mode that blocks access to tabs).
- When an item (not a snapshot) is selected in the central pane, there is a list to select the item type (article, web page, document, book, etc.). Unfortunately, at least in the french version, it is completely randomly sorted. This make it very hard to find them (for example, in french, all article types (journal, magazine, newspaper article) start with "Article ...".

Now concerning OpenOffice.org/MSWord integration :
- It should be made easyer to find new citation styles (csl). Currently we have to go to zotero website and search, and the page is hard to find. There should be a direct link from the style selection window.
- With multiple adjascent references, there should be possible to merge them (eg: [3-5]). Or maybe it is just I don't know how to do?

Beside that, it is a very useful extension, and it already works very nicely!

SmtpSelect

If you are like me who don't like extensions adding big buttons in your UI, you can look at "SmtpSwitch" extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/addon/4972). This one works well, though.

SmtpSwitch

Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

Contrary to what some commentators might think, and especially hanzolo, this extension works perfectly (except perhaps the bug reported by alex dean but I never faced it). It shows itself in the UI, but unlike too many extensions, it doesn't show a big new button, but rather integrates very elegantly with the existing Send Message Now button by adding a small drop-down arrow on it, allowing to choose the SMTP in just one more clic. No options needed, it just works out-of-the-box!
I really appreciate not needing to first click on a separate button to choose the SMTP. If you want a big button in your UI, see the "SmtpSelect" extension.
