Ganz große Klasse.
Vielen Dank für die schnelle Reaktion und für dieses klasse Add-on.

Works aOK again, since today as you predicted it, Philipp, thanks a lot. And, after trying Caldav for a couple of days, I can say that your addon is superior to Caldav as it turns out to be more stable and handles notifications by sms + easier setup.
One suggestion, Philipp: maybe you could post a direct link to the Bugzilla query about bugs for this component with most recent first on about section of the addon's page, so that users can easily view the ongoing main issues (as the last days) thus not needing to write bad reviews... :)

Nice job on this update. Issues encountered in version 1.0.1 are now fixed for me. Thank you

I have hundreds of customers with the same problem. I hope for a quick solution with a new release.

Hello,

The newest update leaves my agenda completely blank. Tried other machines, same story. Mozilla software locks up completely (crashes). This update has made things worse, for now I cannot get access to my company email. Stay away from this update!!

AddOn is great. As for this update,Thunderbird / Lightning did not pick up that an update had come out. Thunderbird AddOns search did not turn up AddOn at all. Had to Google search from browser, find it, download, and manually install to get calendar working again. Something is broken somewhere in update process.

Cette critique concerne une version précédente du module (1.0.2).

The update process is out of my control, please report this either with addons.mozilla.org or Thunderbird itself. A little unfair to give the Provider a bad score for this.

Had no doubt that the bug fix would come.
Thank You!

Hats off to the dev for fixing the problem. I especially love the task support. Thank you! :)

Love this add on, but it is not caching for offline use. Unfortunately, this would be a deal breaker for me. If I open my calendar while offline, I cannot see any events. Instead, I see a message indicating that it is failing to connect.

Cette critique concerne une version précédente du module (1.0.2).

Caching is actually on all the time. Could you visit the support forum and tell me more about your error?

Update: I actually tried this and its working for me nicely. Make sure you've at least once downloaded all items.

I am a basic user. Simple email, calendar and contacts.

I was using Provider and am now trying out CALDAV.

Can anyone, briefly, explain the pros and cons?

Phillip, version 1.0 doesn't provide the offline caching option. That was a killer feature for me. Are there any plans to add support for that?

Cette critique concerne une version précédente du module (1.0.2).

Actually, it does. The Provider exclusively uses the offline caching option and doesn't allow disabling it. This is why there is no option for it.

Really useful add-on! Been using it for years. And it seems that performance and stability has improved over the years.

Regarding problems with 1.0.X versions. Version 1.0.2 seems to make the calenders working normally again.

I'm using a master password, and in the 1.0.X version I get a bunch of master-password login dialogs (one for each calender) when starting Thunderbird - annoying! Previously I only got two, which was acceptable.

Please take a look at the Startupmaster extension. This is mostly a platform issue, which will likely be solved in a later version of Thunderbird.

Another workaround for new versions.

0. Close Thunderbird
1. Log into https://console.developers.google.com
2. Press "Create Project", then "Create", and wait a minute until it's finished.
3. Click "APIS & auth", "APIs"
4. Find and enable "Calendar API" and "Tasks API"
5. Fill required fields in "Consent screen"
6. Open "Credentials", "Oauth", "Create new Client ID"
7. Choose "Installed application", then "Create Client ID".
8. Copy "CLIENT ID" and "CLIENT SECRET" values (will need them later)
9. Search on your hard disk for file with name "gdataSession.jsm" and open it
10. At the end of the file, remove everything after "Before you spend time trying to find out what this means, please note"
11. Append to the file this:

this.OAUTH_BASE_URI = "https://accounts.google.com/o/";
this.OAUTH_CLIENT_ID = "PUT YOUR CLIENT ID HERE";
this.OAUTH_CLIENT_SECRET = "PUT YOUR CLIENT SECRET HERE";
this.OAUTH_SCOPE = "https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar https://www.googleapis.com/auth/tasks";

12. Start Thunderbird and see if calendars work.
13. If not, try to add a new google calendar as usually ("new calendar"->"network"->"google calendar"). The app should ask you for your google login and password. Agree to everything ;)
14. You may need to re-enable all google calendars (just double click on them and click "Turn on this calendar".

Enjoy!

Again, this is likely against some terms of service so I will not support this. If you want to go down this route I'd suggest trying the original provider again in a month or so.

The workaround below (revert to 0.32 tempo) works. If you're encountering issues with access to the other than the primary calendar in your account you need to go to your google calendar settings page and get the funky Calendar ID from there, it looks like [email protected] .

That last step tripped me up until I linked throught eh CalDEV google help page to the page that referenced this need.

Bless you Philipp, you have the patience of a saint. Your hard work is very much appreciated.

Absolutely loved this until recently. It keeps going down. Today, same problem as other reviewer - says Provider is out of date. Would be willing to upgrade rating and send donation if this can become stable, otherwise it's useless. Last week I had to delete calendars and Provider, reconfigure on Google Calendar, reinstall calendars and Provider, multiple attempts, before getting everything to work again. Beyond annoying.

If I enable the birthday calendar with the new 1.0.1/1.0.2 version, Thunderbird freezes for five seconds every time I change the week or change the view or anything in the calendar, making it essentially unusable. But the new version apparently conflicts with ThunderBirthday, which was working fine.

My rating is for past and, hopefully, future performance of this add-on. Reading between the lines, it seems to me that the issue might be that Google's quota for sync requests has changed. So, whereas at one time, it might have been possible to upgrade Provider for Google Calendar (PGC) and painlessly re-sync all calendar items, now it's impossible to re-sync an entire calendar, and PGC is, in effect, broken by the upgrade. If my guesswork is anywhere near the truth, would it make sense to make PGC sync only a small portion of the calendar initially--maybe current month and one month prior and ahead. Then, sync the remainder gradually over time? If a Google policy change has resulted in 1.0.2 being broken, it seems unlikely to me that a server-side fix is forthcoming. But you know Google better than I do...

Cette critique concerne une version précédente du module (1.0.2).

Only syncing a small part will make it really hard to figure out which events have been synced and which haven't, and also more requests in the long run. In theory things should calm down soon: once everyone has done their initial sync, all future syncs are incremental and will only require one request. I've bumped the results per request by a large number in 1.0.2, so even with a full sync it should be less requests.

I've been using Provider and Lightning for at least 2 years. Never a problem until the recent updates. 1st I was getting annoying Google Logins everytime I opened Thunderbird. Then the calender stopped syncing. That was fixed by removing old calenders (that were setup a long time ago) and re-installing. That worked great until this latest 1.0.2 update came. Asking for login again. Now quota exceeded. I've about had it.
