No compatible with Thunderbird 3. I've also tried the Nightly edition but got the infamous "XXX will not be installed because it does not provide secure updates" message. After disabling security, I managed to install the XPI, the extension would not start, "options" kept crashing, etc.

This is exactly what i want! But i can´t use it, because it´s for Thunderbird 2 only. Nightly build also didn´t work. :(
Please release new Version!

Great addons for Thunderbird 2, it would be great an update for the incoming Tb 3 version.

this is a great addon (when it works). It allows simple set-and-forget contact and calendar sharing on multiple machines (even when both are running, which is impossible using shared network folders).

I've gotten it to work fine with addresses, but it always hangs when trying to sync calendars (using lightning). Once that bug gets sorted, you can even use it as a cheap groupware solution (like sharing a calendar with friends) as long as everybody has access to the same IMAP account.

Any chance that the max version can be bumped to include 3.0pre?

Works nicely with small address books, and really does synchronize them (as opposed to Addressbooks Synchronizer). Yet it ignores address lists and it does not progress on my real address book with 700+ entries and some 20 lists. So I'm back with exporting to LDIF files, syncing them with unison and kdiff3 more or less manually, and then re-importing them :-(

I've been searching for an easy way to sync contacts and calendars for many years, everything was either buggy, expensive or "too online" in the sense of not respecting privacy. With this tool (but use the current 1.0.3!!) and "lightning" you get a solid, simple and elegant solution which needs only an imap email account (it does NOT require kolab!). Works very nicely for me on ubuntu jaunty, but I had to use the newer version 1.0.3 from the author's site.

The only drawback is that it's a bit slow, but I think comfortable enough. What is missing in my opinion is an option to automatically sync when launching / shutting down thunderbird.

This is good work, thanks a lot to the author, keep it going!

I have found this to be a top little add-on. Initially I did have problems with the loss of some shared calendar entires exactly as per ikpetrof mentioned. However I figured out why. I am using Citadel as my IMAP server and it seems that Citadel can accept Sync Kolab with either the ICAL/Kolab1 OR XML/Kolab2 formats - but not both together. That means ALL clients need to sync in the one format - one or the other. If just one client is using a different format, sooner or later you WILL lose calendar entries. I can only speak for Citadel, I don't know how other IMAP servers react to differing sync formats. Having said that, one thing I would like to see, is a way of stopping clients from fiddling with their sync settings. Still all-in-all, it's a great and very useful little addon.

Very promising module but unfortunately it is not reliable yet.

I installed it for two different companies on two distinct networks and both of them suddenly lost half of their calendar appointments some days later.

Once this HUGE BUG is corrected I'm ready to put a five stars evalutation.

Contact sync seems to work ok, but calendar sync is completely broken for me. Stuff routinely moves by 1 day on the calendar, and occasionally just disappears.

Wow, all my outlook calendar-events from the exchange-server at my work are neatly imported in TB-lightning! The route back does not work, but at least I can now sync with, and use my PDA for, both work and private calendar. Thank you!

Gibt es die sync Funktion auch für Filter? Wäre klasse, wenn man auch seine Filter regeln über ein IMAP Ordner abgleichen könnte. Ich hoffe so etwas wird in zukünftigen Versionen implementiert!

I was using version 1.0.2 on Thunderbird 2.0.0.19 on a WinXP machine.

First let me state that this tool is potentially very useful. I hope that this tool will work some day.

The feature I found most irritating was that despite my checking the appropriate box under the settings I was never ever asked when a conflict arose between server and local data. Example: when I had 4 to-dos on the server, but 6 stored locally, the program simply deleted the two unmatched local items (it did this dozens of times). This really is a kiss of death for any synchronization tool, sorry.

Really a nice and helpful add-on!

One question: I´d like to sync more than one calender. In Lightning I can set up e.g. calender 1, 2 and 3. Now I ´d like to sync Kolab IMAP calender 1 with the local calender 1, Kolab IMAP calender 2 with the local calender 2 and so on so that the different calenders show the entries in the local calenders in different colors. Is this possible? How?

Excellent - use with Lightning for full mobile Contacts and Calendar (v1.0.3 needed for the Calendar syncing to work properly). No more continuously Importing and Exporting the Address book between different machines

Have been using this add on for approx 6 months, only the address sync function. Curently I am using it to sync address between a laptop (vista), 2 ubuntu Linux computers and 1 Computer running XP.
I find the program extremely useful and would hate to go back to the chaos I had before I found this add on.

Thank you

Great Tool, but Syncing Mailinglists doesnt't work. It would be great if this could be implemented.
