I was having the issue with calendar not showing up properly (items and sync greyed out, no calendars listed). And the solution that worked for me was the one commented by dbstraffin :
Start TB in safe mode and resetting toolbars and controls.
To create your own collections, you must have a Mozilla Add-ons account.
