I regularly utilize this great Add-On to change either date and/or Subject. Changing date allows me to keep important, but not handled e-mail ready to read.
Yes, I agree that End User posting on Jan. 2, 2024 was out of line. From the comment, (s)he seems to be looking for a totally different function - why complain about that for this wonderful extension!

Works well for me. Thanks to opto for taking over this project from Paolo. It's very useful when you receive a message with the wrong subject line. You can change it to something relevant so you can find it again.

I totally disagree with a previous reviewer who complained that the add-on was "Pure evil". The software does what it claims to do and the request for a small donation is reasonable.

Useless!!! I've been searching for a tool to break the reply chain (you use the reply function to avoid filling all correspondents again, yet starting a new thread), and HTL annoys me about donations instead, effectively blocking the start of Thunderbird totally. Pure evil.

incompatible with ThreadVis, which is more important as addon

Doesn't work anymore under thunderbird 91.2.1 (64-Bit).

Emails get destroid: all header informations are gone after applying changes. The changed header infos apear instead as the email content... while the former content (email Text) is gone!

Edit: apparently it only does that in google mailboxes. Developers, please clarify?

Current workaround: COPY the mail to change from the google imap mailbox to Thunderbirds local folders, change the header or whatever needs changing and copy it back to the google imap area.

Edit 2022
issue does't exist anymore in plugin "Header Tools Improved" and I don't use "Header Tools Lite" anymore. If anyone encounters the same issue, give "Header Tools Improved" a try

Thanks for the info. We are using a standard internal TB function: createMessageFromFile. If that fails, there may be an error in TB 91.
As a workaround/precaution, you can use options to set that the original mail is not deleted when changing headers. At least, that will prevent loss of emails.
I think something is special with GMail using unified folders, so that might be a reason. I will try to find out.

Love this add-on and use it daily. Too bad TB version 78 broke it. I hope the developer can fix it. I would pay for this add-on I use it that much. What a shame that Mozilla is doing things to their code that is breaking so many great add-ons like this one. Please try to fix this if you can. Thanks for all your work

Since Thunderbird doesn't tell you what it will disable when it upgrades, big problems ensued in upgrade to TB78. Do you plan to adjust the add-on? I would give the highest rating to this add-on but can't use it any more. I may have to see what it takes to revert. Is there another product that does the same thing?

Great Add-on for earlier versions, but it is needed on Thunderbird 78. Will there be an update? If not I'll stay with the old Thunderbird. Can't manage without this! Thank you.

I'm using this tool for years now but it doesn't work anymore since the auto-update to thunderbird 78.5.1.
Will there be an update of this tool or do you have a suggestion for an alternative?

Thanks in advance

Era un ottimo componente ma con la nuova versione di Thunderbird 78.4.0 non funziona più. Spero sia aggiornato velocemente

A legacy WebExtension version for Thunderbird 68.* is now available:

I have been using this regularly for years - mostly to edit the title of emails so that they can be stored and found easily. It doesn't work with current versions - I would love to see it fixed.

WORKAROUND:
1. Drag the email into a drafts folder.
2. Edit and save it
3. Drag it back to inbox. Done.

It was a great extension, but it won't be updated to work with TB 68+. As a workaround though, simply save an email as a file with an .eml extension and then open it in a text editor like Jarte. After you make the changes and save the file, drag and drop it back into TB. Works for me every time.

My four star rating is for what the extension used to be. One star lost because it the extension won't be updated anymore.
