Hi there
I use your addon now to keep addressbook in sync on several computers. It works good.
However there is one issue I have: It seems to be unable to sync contact lists. On one installation I do have two lists. They were copied to the imap account just fine. But all other installations can't retrieve them anymore.
Any suggestion?

Using tbird 10.0.2 with Sync Kolab v 1.5.4, I set up a profile for one account; seems to have cached the respective addresses; but when adding another profile, it briefly (1/2 second) shows the settings window, then starts setup wiz to create a new profile.
I managed to screnshoot the settings window, but my first profile is not listed. I created a profile for a second email account, so will see what the AddOn does.
I have re-started tbird, but no further addresses have been imported (from the 2nd account)... and there should be loads!
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Please use bugzilla http://synckolab.mozdev.org/bugs.html to submit the issue. The settings window is only available if you have a synckolab configuration on your system - to create a new one the wizard starts.
Also note that the ocnfiguration is part of your profile - so it will not be listed if you use a second profile. But within a profile you can create multiple synckolab configurations for multiple address books or imap accounts. Steige gerade auf den Donnervogel um (2 Installationen: Win XP Notebook und Mac OS X Desktop, die synchronisiert werden sollten). EMail-technisch funktioniert die Synchronisation über IMAP, das Sync-Kolab-Addon verspricht eigentlich genau das zu tun, was ich noch benötige (Adressbuch und Kalender).
Alternativen dazu sind auch praktisch nicht vorhanden, da auf Standards wie SyncML basierende Lösungen weit hinterherhinken und keines der anderen Thunderbird Add-Ons echte Synchronisation von Kontakten, geschweige denn von Kalendereinträgen und ToDos bietet. Bezüglich der Funktionalität weist SyncKolab daher ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal auf. Es basiert zwar nicht auf SyncML, nutzt aber auch einige Standards (IMAP, vCard, iCal bzw. XML), sowie bei Bedarf das Kolab Ecosystem (http://www.kolab.org), woraus sich neben der Synchronisation von Thunderbirds noch interessante weitere Möglichkeiten ergeben könnten. Theoretisch würde z.B. auch ein Abgleich mit Android-Handys möglich sein, wobei es da wohl aktuell mangels Kompatibilität mit dem Android-Client, welcher auch noch etwas unausgereift wirkt, nicht wirklich funktioniert. Setze da lieber noch auf MyPhoneExplorer, das aber nur auf dem Windows-Rechner lauffähig ist und bei dem die Synchronisation manuell gestartet werden muss. Dafür wirkt es sehr stabil und komfortabel, den Abgleich der Thunderbirds soll dann Sync Kolab übernehmen.
Mit der Version 1.5.3 von Sync Kolab gab es allerdings ein gravierendes Problem. ACHTUNG: Beim Synchronisieren wurden in TB geänderte Einträge gelöscht, statt geändert zu werden, beim nächsten Lauf wurden sie dann auch im TB gelöscht, weil der Eintrag auf dem Server nicht mehr vorhanden war. Also unbedingt die Version 1.5.4 verwenden!
Der Entwickler hat aber unglaublich schnell reagiert und unmittelbar nach meinem Bugreport eine neue Version erstellt, die auf http://www.gargan.org/en/Mozilla_Extensions/SyncKolab/Releases/ zur Verfügung steht. GROSSES LOB!
Der Fehler in 1.5.3 war zwar etwas beunruhigend, die Reaktion des Entwicklers aber umso vertrauenserweckender. Daher gerne volle 5 Sterne.

1.5.4 behebt das problem. sollte jemand noch 1.5.3 benutzen bitte möglichst bald updaten um datenverluste zu vermeiden!

Sounds good in theory, but couldn't get it to work. Installed the add-on and proceeded to attempt to create a profile to sync up Lightning (calendar). However, every attempt resulted in me being unable to find the location of the calendar to sync up from the email account. Maybe I need better instructions, but I just couldn't get it to work.k

Brings in my google contacts, but it overrides the status bar at the bottom of Thunder Bird, so URL previews by hovering over them in email do not work. This is a huge security risk because it allows spam/malicious messages to hide their true URL.

es macht sich das fenster mit "synchronizing with imap Folders" auf und dort bleibt es dann auch gleich bei Initialising und Nachricht 0/0 stehen
zudem startet dieses fenster nur wenn ich thunderbird aufmache, wenn ich im thunderbird starte sync kolab anklicke passiert nichts
wenn ich bei den sync kolab einstellungen nichts reinschreibe also kein konto anlege läuft der balken in dem fenster "synchronizing with imap Folder" unten durch und dann steht da noch fertig. Sie können das Fenster nun schließen.
Also müsste es doch funktionieren oder? ich habe eine imap e-mail Adresse bei hosteurope muss ich da vielleicht auf etwas achten?
kann mir jemand weiterhelfen, dieses Problem hatte ja ein paar Posts unter mir auch schon einer :-(
ich gebe dem ganzen trotzdem 5 sterne weil ich nichts besseres bisher für thunderbird gefunden habe und ich glaube, dass der fehler in diesem fall vor dem bildschirm sitzt :-(
es gibt ein nightly auf http://www.gargan.org/en/Mozilla_Extensions/SyncKolab/CVS_Nightly/ . Schau dir auch die Fehlerkonsole genau an und schrieb einen bug sollte es trotdem nicht gehen.

Worked very well, but since update to TB 6.0 it stops displaying of hovered links in the status bar. This is essential for me, so Sync Kolab is disabled until fixed.

Excellent tool.
Worked so far nicely for all components (address book, calendar, tasks).
However, rare corruption of address book happened (but probably due to conflicts with a different version on a Windows account).
After clean up no more issues.
NOTE: Current nightly build (http://www.gargan.org/en/Mozilla_Extensions/SyncKolab) is compatible with Thunderbird 5.0.

Used with great success on TB 2, 4 stars.
Use on TB 3 is very problematic for Contacts. Issues could be related to O/S / IMAP Server / TB3. Back up Address Books before use.
Seems to work well for Calendar

Wonderful as a nice easy solution for keeping contacts in sync using an imap folder. Badly needs an update to 3.1 though.

Thunderbird 3.1 on OSX 1.5 (Leopard) refuses to install the latest version of Sync Kolab, claiming it is incompatible add-on.

Sync Kolab 1.5.0 works perfectly (for addresses)
on my Thunderbird 3.0.4, both under Windows XP (Sp3) and Mac OS X 10.6.3 (Snow Leopard).

after I did what you said, it worked quite fine with thunderbird 3.0.1
The only Problem is, that there seems to be an error in
content/synckolab/addressbook.js
The function cur.editCardToDatabase in line 737 is never defined. I just deleted the function call and now everything works fine for me syncing contacts to an imap-account.

Current published version (above) says it works with 3.0b4. I downloaded this one, renamed the *.xpi to *.zip and edited install.rdf to say max version is 3.0.*. Saved, renamed back to *.xpi and installed. Works fine! Needs a bit more polish for 100% compatibility.
