Great extension. For me it is must-have. It is any chance to upgrade?

It was very useful

Great idea, but sadly it is no longer working (Thunderbird 45 for Windows).
Hope the developer can update it.

I downloaded this with the expectation it would be like Outlook follow up reminders, however there seems to several issues with this.

Perhaps I am using incorrectly, but I could not see upcoming follow up reminders on a list until the date that had previously been set for them.

Moreover, as was mentioned in previous reviews, the reminders listed next to the calendar do not link back to the email.

Lastly, if you set multiple email follow ups for the same day, you will only get one reminder stating the number of email follow ups you had set; no reference to the original emails.

Removing in search of a better option.

Doesnt work at all. Keeps trying to go through the setup wizard. Includes basic spelling mistakes.

Follow up works well as far as it goes. However, there are a couple of shortcomings that make it seem amateurish.
For example: creating a tag for every single day you have a follow up. I have many follow ups and don't want a zillion tags (especially since I can't pick the color).
The event it creates is too generic. You can see you have a follow up, but for what. Even if the event contained the subjects and senders, this would give you some idea why you're following up. Better yet, would be a link directly to the message.

Like I said, does what it says.

It is a great add-on to monitor the commitments that you have in order to answer some important emails. Thanks to Jeff I was able to link my Google Calendar (a specific for FollowUps) with Lighthing... so great resource.

However there is always a ... but ..... In this case is the fact that, when a Follow Up is created in the calendar the description is only "Follow Up: 1 email" but you do not know which email is referred to (email subject would be great to be added).

There is another comment, if you create a Follow Up for tomorrow Lighthing comes up with an alarm but you would like to get the alarm for instance tomorrow 9.00 not today when I am creating the FollowUp ...

In any case, a great reasource. Thanks!

Excellent idea, but we need some ordinals for the tags that are created. I use Tag toolbar (beautiful extension) and these keep popping up in the list mangling my numbering scheme.

User selected coloring of the tags would be great as well. I use 4 tags in my daily use New (Red), Todo (Orange), In Progress (Yellow), and Done (Green). See my problem.

Sadly in the state that it leaves my poor TB I can't use it.

I love this add-on. I have a web shop and I get a lot of mails. I don't always have the time right away to answer them (children....), so this is perfect to remember those mails.

What I would like in a future version is the ability to add a time as well, instead of a 'whole day' event.

The idea is just perfect. The features that could be improved, IMO:
- List the details/message of the mail in the event Title and Description.
- Restrict View Pending to only follow-ups; currently all tagged messages are filtered.

Thank you for listening, cheers, M

p.s. TB 9.0.1, Lightning 1.1.1

"You need to have Lightning Calendar Installed for this extension to work"

Too bad Lightening Calendar don't work in the latest version of Thunderbird !

Very nice addon--thank you, Amulya. For asbin, by going into Thunderbird's about:config ("Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> Config Editor (button)" I was able to modify extensions.follow_up_ext.calname from "Follow-Up" to the name of my Google Calendar in Thunderbird's calendar list. The follow-up event now syncs to my Google Calendar. That seems to work fine as far as I can tell so far. Maybe that helps.

Nice tool to get organised.
Would be great if it could synchronise with external calendars (e.g. google), too.

Would be a four star if it worked 100% out of the box for me, but for some reason tasks to not show up in the calendar nor the tasks pane.

Would be a five star with some additions:
- Single click in Inbox list (some column, like the star column) - one click to follow up, defaults today, second click to mark as done
- Button in preview / message window

Good add on. Like has been already said, the email title on the event would be good. Also, I like to sort my email for follow up by the follow up date. It would be good if the tag had the date in a sortable format. So, instead of 1/9/2011, it would be 01/09/2011.

Great add-on - 5 stars! To me, it should be a default Thunderbird feature.
If you plan to improve, I would vote for two things:
1. Ability to mark composed message for follow-up, directly from compose window. (Without going to Sent folder right after sending it).
2. Back-link from the event/task to e-mail(s) for follow-up.
Again, very well done and THANKS!

Thanks for the brilliant idea and hard work!!! 5 star.I see it can follow up in the mail list window and separate reading window.Do you also plan on the follow-up in the compose window? I think that's useful also.
Is it possible to place small view today/pending buttons to the status bar or tab bar to save some space, as Lightning does?
Have a nice weekend.

While I love the ability to mark certain messages for followup -- which this extension does using a right click and the context menu -- there's still much to be done to make the add-on truly useful. If would have been nice to have known that there's a setup wizard (which really doesn't do much). The caution that the tool bar buttons have to be added manually was apt and appreciated, but it did not address the fact that we're promised a Followup "toolbar." Well, you can add it that to Thunderbird manually, too, if you want to. (Note: All the toolbar icons for this add-on are of the "large" nature. No small icon is offered. If you're in need of on-screen real estate, just stick with the context menu. It's all there.) The task/event feature needs work. "Follow-up 1 email" doesn't tell me anything. The subject line of the email should be captured. The task/event does not link to the message in question. Why bother with this functionality? It's quicker to check though a message list to find the highlighted message(s). You have to do so anyhow, since all you'd know is there is an unnamed email to followup. The tags are also useless ("Follow-up" and a date for all messages marked for the same date). Top marks for the highlighting (which is why I'm keeping the add-on installed). The rest needs a thorough conceptual rethink, better integration with Thunderbird's functionality, and more attention to true usability would be appreciated. Then you'd be keeping your promises.

I was following up your addon since past 2 months. Can you help me to use it. I have done the settings as per your instructions but still none of mails are getting marked for Follow-up. Wanted to check as do I need to have calendar installed and I have a Tag called Follow. So is there any problem in my settings or do I need to change something somewhere.
