A great way to report spam inside Thunderbird! There is a review with one star. IGNORE it. The user absolutely does not know how this plugin works. What the user is reporting is exactly how the plugin is suppose to work, LOL!
To the developer; Thank you for your hard work and time on this plugin!

Thanks, greatly appreciate the kind words! It's thanks to positive support like yours that I continue the work :)

This a good tool for automating the reporting of multiple messages.

But, it would be better if it could adapt to the current SpamCop 50k message limit, by generating multiple reports, i.e.
- assembling the reports of 50k+ attachments individually
- assembling reports of 50k or less groups of attachments

Thanks for the feedback! If I'm being honest I had not considered this use case. But at that scale, is it not better to have a script run on your server or something?

In any case, you can email us here if you want to elaborate: [email protected].

is it "normal" that after every spam submission to Spamcop i receive a message with Subject : [SpamCop] has accepted 1 email for processing. And in the body i have this line "SpamCop is now ready to process your spam .

When i check within Spamcop [Past reports] tab >> "View recent reports" the report appears as "No report filed".

Are all these normal behaviors from the plugin ?

I almost forgot; when submitting a spam, i have a pop-up request to encrypt the submission using OpenPGP.
However, this fails as i do not have the Public key from Spamcop.
So to have the spam submitted, i have to "Disable encryption" from the pop window.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
What about the OpenPGP stuff, is there a Public key for Spamcop, else a work around the request to encrypt the submission.

Thanks

Yes, that is the expected behaviour of SpamCop. In that email, you will find the link to finish the reporting (under ''Use links to finish spam reporting'').

While the addon seems like a good idea, i reported ONE spam email, and because it forwards the contents of the spam email in another email as an attachment, it instantly got my email account suspended for sending spam.

Can't this addon be done in a better way that doesn't require using my own SMTP server?

Léirmheas ar leagan níos sine den bhreiseán seo (2.3.0).

Spam cop expects email content as attachments, so I'm not sure why/how your email got suspended, but it isn't a result of this add-on.

Further, this add-on is merely a tool to facilitate reporting, not a service, so there is no plan on reporting emails on users behalf.

Great Addon for reporting Spam but would it be possible to add a 3rd option to Whois tab: no action? It’s quite nagging to get about 10 to 50 useless popups every day when you just want to report spam in TB but then you get spammed with useless windows on your PC …

Léirmheas ar leagan níos sine den bhreiseán seo (2.2.0).

Thanks for the feedback! This option is actually already available! In the "General" tab, under "Configuration Mode", you can select "Spam Cop" or "Custom", and this will disable the WHOIS check. If you have more questions, feel free to email us: [email protected]

Wonderful SPAM Reporting replacement for now defunct Habul. Just Report It allowed me to finally upgrade TB to current after the TB API changes broke Habul.

SPAM is a huge problem. I use RBL's like SpamCop, strict RFC checking, Thunderbird's built-in adaptive junk mail filter and was still getting 50-300 SPAM messages/day.

After installing Just Report It and reporting SPAM garbage dumping to SpamCop, I now only see 3-7 SPAM Messages/day.

There is big money in SPAM, and I've watched organized efforts by SPAMmer's to kill off any effective defense against this activity.

Just Report It + SpamCop + RBL are the only effective last line of defense left. SPAM grows at 30%/year, and it is a constant battle to keep my Inbox from being hijacked by SPAMvertising delivery platforms and made useless by SPAM profiteers.

15 years ago I tried running without all the SPAM protections. My mailbox received 10,000+ messages in one day. That is one new message every 8 seconds which makes your mail delivery bell sound like a gas pump Ding, Ding, Ding every 3-8 seconds.

It is necessary to have a program like Just Report It to combat this war about who is going to control your InBox... SPAMmers or you. Read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Frog for a little history.

Thank you Just Report It! (not perfect, but it sure works)

Well, I was skeptical to say the least but I added it and hoped for the best. I have to say at day 5 of using it my spam mail has decreased a lot. But, I did register with SpamCop to send the garbage emails to. For free and to help reduce the spam, give it a try.

I really like that this exists. Once you get it set up it's as easy as pressing a button. The settings have bugs though, where the names of some settings do what others do they are switched. Play around and you'll get the setting you want.

This add-on is new but so promising ! I am currently receiving the biggest wave of scam and phishing attempts I ever had (since about 1995)
I use spamcop.net a lot but it's takes a lot of time. It will be much easier with "Just report it" !

Also, I would like to replace the French sentence that the extension offers ("Le message joint a été marqué comme spam car il envoie des e-mails non sollicités. Veuillez prendre les mesures appropriées.") with this:
"Attached e-mail is spam, scam or phishing /
l'e-mail joint est du spam, du scam ou du phishing".
Would it be possible for every user to define a custom default phrase for all his reports ?

Anyway, keep it up and thanks for this extension !

Great Add-On for Thunderbird. Works very fine with SpamCop.

One Thing: My Thunderbird is in German an the Add and the Mail-Texts are in Dutch. Maybe solved in the next Release... ;-)

Thanks for letting us know! We'll definitely fix that in the next release!

Thanks for making this much needed addon. However, it seems that you cannot report a message as spam unless you actually open the message which we wouldn't want to do in the first place.

Most spam is easily identifiable as spam from the subject and correspondent and there's no need to open the message.

Can you please implement this when you get time? Thanks you and much appreciated :)

Thanks for the feedback! This is already the next feature planned for this add-on!

Great replacement for the old unsupported HabuL extension. It would be nice if you could highlight and report multiple e-mails at once. The "Spam Cop" option is superfluous, because you can already specify arbitrary reporting addresses. There's also no setting to report to Spam Cop's quick submission address (ie. [email protected]). I think it would make sense to just remove the Spam Cop option.

Léirmheas ar leagan níos sine den bhreiseán seo (1.0).

Thanks for kind words and feedback! I agree that the Spam Cop option is a little superfluous at the moment, however, I do see a use case where it might be necessary to distinguish Spam Cop and other spam reporting addresses where we may (in the future) have more advanced features available for it specifically.
