Does not work in Thunderbird 78.

I like almost everything about this add on, but it could really use a way to throttle it. I'm checking 14 email addresses and with the anti-virus email scanning I find I'm getting connection timeout problems inconsistently.

Very helpful, I switched off the default button and use this one instead.

Would be preferable if the button text was shorter, e.g. "Get All" or "Get Mail" but in honesty this button has one job... and it does it well.

Thank-you DS, your instructions got this addon working again. I gave up hope of it being updated but by chance checked out the comments and saw your post.

Here are instructions to make Get All Mail Button work with TB 68. . .

------------------------------

1. Download the version hosted on the author's site, since it's very slightly newer at v0.3 than the ancient v0.1 hosted here. Unzip the .xpi file (change extension to .zip to extract natively, or use 7-Zip or other extractor).

2. In extracted root folder, create the file "manifest.json" in a text editor and populate as follows (first bracket to last bracket):

{
"manifest_version": 2,
"name": "Get All Mail Button Thunderbird",
"description": "Adds a toolbar button to Get All Mail Accounts in Thunderbird.",
"version": "0.3",
"applications": {
"gecko": {
"id": "{0D4D76B0-657A-41b0-B3ED-60C638F4D97D}",
"strict_min_version": "68.0"
}
},
"author": "Mark S Baines",
"homepage_url": "http://www.linnhe.net/thunderbird/extensions.html",
"icons": {
"32": "chrome/skin/icon.png"
},
"legacy": {
"type": "xul"
}
}

3. Save the file. Note that the JSON syntax is *very* finicky, and so much as one misplaced punctuation mark may cause the addon not to load. Copy and overwrite this addon's info over a manifest from a working TB 68 addon if you run into trouble. (Note: this is a single-language manifest, since the original addon was not localized.)

4. Open "chrome.manifest" from the root folder in a text editor. Search and replace the following string (NOTE: -'s and +'s are for illustration only):
- style style chrome://global/content/customizeToolbar.xul chrome://getallmailbutton/skin/getallmailbutton.css
+ style chrome://global/content/customizeToolbar.xul chrome://getallmailbutton/skin/getallmailbutton.css appversion<59.0a1
+ chrome://messenger/content/customizeToolbar.xul chrome://getallmailbutton/skin/getallmailbutton.css appversion>=59.0a1

5. Save file.

6. ZIP up addon, keeping complete folder structure. Change .zip extension to .xpi.

7. Install in TB 68.

------------------------------

Works perfectly on casual tests, and does not trigger any Error Console output. Note that most of this author's simple button addons here and on his external website should be easily modifiable for TB 68 using this same method.

Could the author of this add on make it updated with 60.* version?
Thanks!

For people who are looking for a way to add exceptions, have a look to "Get Selected Mails", which purpose is to get mails in more versatile ways: inclusion and exclusion of accounts, definition of different profiles, etc.

This is very good

Works relatively well. However, I notice that the button doesn't get ALL email from an account. As soon as I run the 'get Mail' button, I can immediately select the account and get TBird to get messages and TBird downloads many more emails that the button didn't get. Seems like there a time limit on how long the button accesses each account? I have 6 email accounts that I use daily and I have to manually download the emails again to get all of my messages.

Quite useful. Would be great if we could choose which accounts to include/exclude in "all" (I have 4 usual accounts and 2 occasional ones; would like to be able to get just those 4)
Thanks anyway.

The add-on downloaded and was installed without problems.

The only thing that briefly foxed me was that nothing appeared in Thunderbird. Then I thought to click "customize" on the mail bar and there was the icon, ready to be dragged into place.

It seems to work too! :)

I am a little confused. Where do I get the Thunderbird menu--or is it attached to Fox. Can I get an email to you or do you just collect mail? I plan on closing out 2 emails but will keep gmail and AOL, would an email address from Thunderbird. I am tired of all the questions/changes--almost like you are a criminal in your our account. Please advise what my next step should [email protected] (closing that one soon), Thank you.
