I'm running TB 38.2.0. Is there something like this add on that works with versions newer than 2.0.0?

Just a comment, not a review.

There is also this setting in "user.js" if you have to many folders to check.

user_pref("mail.check_all_imap_folders_for_new", true);

FolderCheck is a nice improvement. In my opinion however it only goes half of the way. What I'd really like to see is one big window containing a list of all folders, in which I can easily set not only the "check" flag for a group of folders, but also Retention Policy, Offline, etc.

This extension will not make check for new mail the default for all folders. You still have to right click and choose "check for new items" in all your folders to toggle the setting. Still becoming very annoying if you have a large number of folders.

A very handy tool. I use server side filtering to put my messages into folders. Accessing the properties window for 40+ folders to get Thunderbird to check them for new items is tedious, especially if you frequently use a new machine. Why on earth is this not built-in?!
