My Reviews

Mozilla Labs: Contacts

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

On trying to install v0.4.2, I seemed to be missing the OAuth addon that Erik Tessem described on January 4, 2011, so I followed his procedure to install the old version (Contacts, by mixedpuppy, v0.3.6) first. Following this, I deactivated v0.3.6 and installed v0.4.2 again.

The connection to LinkedIn and Twitter seem to be working, but the connection to Plaxo didn't (possibly because I'm using the unpaid Basic version).

Launchy

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I was really happy with Launchy, sending links between Thunderbird, Firefox 2 (and Flock 1, through the launchy.xml feature).

Under Thunderbird 2, Firefox 3 and Flock 2, it appears that launching to other browsers has stopped working. I've reported this at https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=20861 .

It seems as though some other features (e.g. launching an image into XnView) still work. Launching from Firefox into Opera or Internet Explorer seems to have stopped.

When searching bugs, it's possible that there may be conflict between Launchy and Tabs Mix Plus, which I can't confirm to deny, as disabling Tabs Mix Plus hasn't helped.

This is a great Firefox add-on that would be great again with some relatively minor maintenance (by a professional developer who knows what he/she is doing ... and that unfortunately isn't me!)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.2.0).

There's been an architectural issues with Forumzilla cited at http://www.mozdev.org/pipermail/forumzilla/2007-July/000156.html .

Read this before spending much time on Forumzilla.

FlickrTrans

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

At v1.01 running on Firefox 2.0.0.16, a tab starts with the "Transloading ... 2/3" message, and then nothing happens.

Also, it's unclear where the Flickr login happens. I was already logged in ... and there wasn't a request for a named Flickr account.
