There are some problems to upload here the version compatible with the last Thunderbird version. There is an issue open in GitHub and some workarounds: https://github.com/vimperator/vimperator-labs/issues/769

Does not work with TB52, it was so great though. I would be ready to donate to devs...

Please, please, and please maintain it for the newer versions of Mozilla Thunderbird.

Why is the new version 1.3.1.1 not replacing the version 1.2 on this page for download and update ?.. It can be downloaded from the "other versions" link as older versions can. Is it because it is not ready or do I miss something about the way mozilla addons are handled ?

Great add-on. Just wondering if there is a way to disable it while on the Lightning tab. I hate getting the red error that says "TypeError: config.browser is null". Thanks

Had issues after upgrading to TB 38 but Jakob's directions did the trick! Glad to get this up and running again. (Was resigned that I may have had to look into setting up Mutt!)

Thanks very much! Can't live with Thunderbird without it!

Also thanks for Jakob about how to make it work with TB 38.

In order to get muttator to work with Thunderbird 38, do the following (in any linux shell; you need to have git and possibly other things installed):

`git clone https://github.com/vimperator/vimperator-labs.git`

Go to muttator dir and do `make xpi`.

You will find a working xpi in the downloads folder.

The lastest version of muttator (compiled from the source code in github) does not work on Thunderbird 31.4.

This thing is completely broken on TB 24.5, even after installing ver. 1.2 xpi compiled from source.

Update (2014-08-01):
After having used the extension for some time, I changed my opinion somewhat. It works well enough, provided one knows the keybindings, which brings me to the real problem: An unfortunate lack of documentation around keybindings. I've been using Pentadactyl for some time (and Vim now and again) and I'd say I've got a fairly advance knowledge of their keybindings. However, Muttator has very specific modes for Thunderbird, such as 'Compose' and 'Message' mode. The latter is described in the Help (:helpall) Intro as follows:

"For example, it has a special Message mode, where key bindings behave differently from the normal mode..."

And that is the first and only mention of Message mode in the builtin-help. Basically all the keybindings described apply to web page shortcuts - it appears that these are essentially just a copy of the Vimperator/Pentadactyl help pages.

I managed to find some third party blogs listing keybindings, but sadly even those are, in many respects, incomplete or inaccurate. Still I'm grateful to those authors for helping new users of this add-on.

I'm upgrading my rating from 1 to 3 stars; but this could have been even higher if it wasn't for the documentation problem.

Happy to see this plugin a few things doesn't work p.e. help. Options window in addon window is empty. I'm receiving many errors like this: TypeError: can't wrap XML objects

I built it directly from the source (http://code.google.com/p/vimperator-labs/) and it works great with Thunderbird 15.

hg clone https://code.google.com/p/vimperator-labs/
cd vimperator-labs && make

Then install the muttator xpi in the downloads directory.

The rolling-release version on the Muttator site supports the latest Thunderbird 5:
http://vimperator.org/muttator

Of course some things are broken in that version, too, but on the whole it works well.

Thunderbird has a stable release 3 now. But wonder why muttator is not keeping up. When I have a stable 3.0 release why would I switch to its beta version? Muttator needs to keep up. I am really impressed with thunderbird 3.0 and dont want to go back to its beta. But at the same time I am very impatient for muttator.
Vimperator has been life saving for me and cant wait to get muttator on a stable thunderbird release.

This addon made me switch from kmail to thunderbird. It combines the advantages of thunderbird with the great vim-like handling. Finally I've arrived at my last email client for a long time.
I extra created this account to thank you for this fine piece of software.
This stuff does exactly what I want and increases my prodictivity significantly.
