This was an essential add-on for me until it got disabled by the upgrade to Thunderbird 78.3.1
Glad to see the developers are working hard to bring it back. Looking forward very much to the new version.

Any idea when this add-on will be ready for current TB version? This is THE best add-on and I use it all the time. Willing to donate $.

Tb's latest release is 78.3.1

Please update.

I hope this add-on can be updated for TB 78.2 (which is an add-on nightmare - lost 80% of the add-ons I was using). When you need this function, you really need it and nothing else will do.

I'm working on it... but if you need this function, for now, you'll have to disable auto updates and download and reinstall Thunderbird 68.* again. At first start, you must run it with command line option --allow-downgrade

Loved this add-on, it *was* an essential for me.

I feel the same as others who've said that had they known that this add-on would be rendered useless by the latest Thunderbird update I'd have not bothered updating. Really winds me up when this happens. Really feel for the add-on developers.

I've lost something like 6 add-ons with the updates of late. So frustrating ....

I recently learned about this new API
https://github.com/thundernest/addon-developer-support/wiki/Using-the-WindowListener-API-to-convert-a-Legacy-Overlay-WebExtension-into-a-MailExtension-for-Thunderbird-78

which is meant to ease the migration of legacy addons to TB 78.
Maybe this is helpful for you...

Hi, I've seen the API, but even with the API it requires a significant amount of work, because of the backwards compatibility I had and the tight integration with Thunderbird with the UI and Options.
I'm working on it…

Had I known - or had Thunderbird warned me about - how many of my extensions won't be compatible with 78.x I would never have upgraded. MailRedirect is absolutely essential in daily life. What a pity :(

I'm working on it... Unfortunately it requires a major rewrite to become compatible with TB78+

War ein perfektes Add-On bis Thunderbird 78,
jetzt leider abgeschaltet.
Hoffentlich wird es bald aktualisiert

I like to use this adoon, unfortunately the update to thundrbird 78 .... deactivated the add-on and is no longer compatible. What alternatives are there or is there a new adon for mail redirection?
Great add-on, please keep it up :)

As fas as I know, this is the only add-on for redirecting. I'm busy rewriting it for TB78, but it will take quite some more time before I'm finished.

A must have extension (but currently not working on TB 78.1.1, event when it "shows" as compatoble when you serach for it).

Thank you for your review! I hope to get Mail Redirect available in 2 or 3 months, before TB 78.3. Don’t know why it shows up in the search results, the latest version is compatible up to TB 70.*…

Terrific Add-on. I've never fully understood why this functionality doesn't exist in TB natively. I'm missing it already in TB 78! Wish I had the skills to help with the rewrite.

Works perfectly and it's better than Apple Mail (because Apple Mail can only redirect only one mail at a time)

Thunderbird 68.4.2 (32-bit) -- upgraded recently
Mail Redirect 0.10.6 -- upgraded recently

Invoking "Mail Redirect" with ctrl-B brings up a blank window -- the window doesn't have a resend-from selected, and the message that I'm trying to redirect isn't listed in the blank window. Is this a known upgrade problem?

[2/17] Resolved quickly! See developer's reply below. Love this add-on :-)

Something changed in Thunderbird that makes your default account invalid, and Mail Redirect can't handle that properly. If you go to Tools > Account Settings, select your primary account and choose Set As Default from the Account Actions button in the bottom left, your default account should be good again and Mail Redirect should work again.
Hope that helps,
Onno

When I send a redirected email it arrives at the recipeint as being from my email address instead of the original sender address as bounces are supposed to work. I'm almost certain it didn't do that previously...

EDIT: As per the developer's suggestion, I did a few tests and it seems the fault lies at my email provider as he thought. I can redirect from my Gmail address and it works, but my other address replaces the address. I'll just make sure I move mail to my gmail account when needing to redirect. Thanks for replying!

Hi roger,
I'm sorry redirecting doesn't work for you anymore. The error is most likely in you e-mail provider not fully supporting redirecting and substituting your address in the from-address. You can verify this by checking if the message in your Sent folder has the original from-address. You may have to adjust some settings in Mail Redirect or your mail account in order to get Mail Redirect to store a copy of your redirected messages...

Implements an essential feature of any MUA, that Mozilla’s one lacks for some reason.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.10.2).

Great addon .. too bad this feature is not available in the Message Filter actions. I read other users would like this.
How much effort (money ... I'm willing to contribute for this) would you need to add this feature?
Maybe looking at the previous RedirectFilter source code could help you find a way.
Let us know.

Installé sur Macbook, tous les mails redirigés sont reçu comme spam; Sur Windows 10, les mêmes mails sont reçu sans problèmes. Y-a-t-il un réglage à faire ?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.9.6).

There's probably a difference in the junk mail control settings between the Macbook and Windows 10.
Check under Tools > Account Settings > [account] > Junk Settings if all settings are the same.
Even if the settings are the same, behavior can still be different, e.g. when you have different training data for adaptive junk mail controls on the two computers or when your personal address books are different.

I've been this extension for years, and always does its job!

Previous version worked fine, this one makes the Redirect button in the Mail Redirect window greyed out and unavailable when I begin to type whatever in the Resend-To field.

Edit:
New version 0.9.6a1 is working now as fine as previously! Thanks a lot Onno!

BTW, is it possible to fill Resend-From field with the message's Delivered-To account by default, not the first account from Thunderbird's list?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.9.5).

This was caused by a function that got removed in Thunderbird 57.0a1 and was replaced by another function in Thunderbird 59.0a1.

nsIScriptableDateFormat was removed and first replaced with Intl.createDateTimeFormat and later with Intl.DateTimeFormat.

I've uploaded a new version to the development channel of AMO that solves this problem for beta users. Please go to AMO, scroll all the way to the bottom and click View classic desktop site, switch to Other Applications > Thunderbird on the top right, select/search Mail Redirect and scroll down again to open the Development Channel section and download version 0.9.6a1 and install it to your Thunderbird 57.0b* or 58.0b*.

P.S. I try to determine to which account the original messages was sent and use that account as the default from address. If that doesn't work, please file a ticket at https://sourceforge.net/p/mailredirect/tickets/
