Identity Chooser 3.2
by thunderspeed
Identity Chooser helps you to always use the correct identity when composing a new email.
About this Add-on
Do you remember the first time you accidentally sent a work related email from your private email account? Identity Chooser helps you to prevent that. It makes choosing the sender address explicit:
• Do you want to compose a new email? Identity Chooser forces you to choose the sender address first.
• Do you want to forward an email? Identity Chooser forces you to choose the sender address first.
To make it short: Every time you'll create a new message, Identity Chooser shows you a menu with all your identities.
Everything in Identity Chooser is about making explicit choices. No automatisms, no defaults.
And as a result you'll never send an email from the wrong email address again.
Note: Earlier versions of Identity Chooser offered the possibility to color the background of the email editor differently for different senders when composing.
This functionality is no longer available. Instead, I recommend the addon Border Colors D, which provides a similar functionality.
Permissions: During installation, Identity Chooser requests "full, unrestricted access to Thunderbird, and your computer". Identity Chooser does not, in fact, accesses your files or anything on your computer outside of Thunderbird.
This is an issue with porting addons to the new Thunderbird mail extensions. Since mail extensions currently don't support everything addons such as Identity Chooser need (and were able to do in old versions of Thunderbird), addons need to implement so-called experiments. Any addon that implements an experiment gets full unrestricted access to the user's computer including file system access. This was already the case in earlier Thunderbird versions even though it wasn't spellt out like that.
