Hi,
This is an essential add-on. Can you please fix it for the latest version on are there a other add-on for this function. Hi. Found AttachExtraTools add-on that do the job.
the problem is I do not have the source code for the (windows only) executable that does the actual copying - so I will not be allowed to submit it, even if I fix it.

Hello, everybody.
I really need this add-on.

Drag and drop of files from TB to onenote is not working.
So this add-on description looks like decision, but it's not working......(((

Anyone pls make it work with new TB 12.0 so thankfull !! HELLLLPPPPP ME PLEASE ..
I wish it was so easy... it needs third party software for which I do not have the source code, which means AMO would not review it.

This feature is very very important. Coping a file and pasting it on a message eases a lot our way of writing messages.
Please make it work for newer versions.

Checked the addon - with full of hope in my heart. Seems to be working (not mentioned the crashes...) but the size of the Thunderbird folder files didn't reduce... (moreover, they increased a little... :-/ )
One of the main aims was reducing the mail folder. Unfortunately, this dream of mine didn't get fulfilled... :-(
When you delete anything from a mail folder, you can reduce its actual size by using the compact folder command. Just right click the folder in the folder tree and select "Compact Folder". This will remove any deleted message and I think also removed attachments from the mail store

To make it work in TB 3, I had to proceed as follows (the code change suggested in ZeBoxx's review didn't work for me):
Step 1: change em:maxVersion in install.rdf to 3.*
Step 2: edit chrome\copyattachmenttoclipboard.jar::chrome\content\copyattachmenttoclipboard.js as follows:
Replace "attachment.messageUri" with "attachment.uri" (one occurrence).
I have uploaded the modified xpi file here:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YQH5NQEK
Disclaimer: I have no previous experience with Mozilla plugins, so this may or may not work for you.

This add-on makes it much more easier to get the attachment somewhere in a opened explorer window.
Thanks a lot for that.

As this add-on is no longer being maintained (hasn't been for ages) and is incompatible with TB3.. a quick note on making it compatible:
Step 1: change em:maxVersion in install.rdf to allow for version 3.
Step 3: edit chrome\copyattachmenttoclipboard.jar::chrome\content\copyattachmenttoclipboard.js and add "attachment.messageUri = gFolderDisplay.selectedMessageUris[0];" above the second destFilePath line to fix the filename saving error that pops up when copying (saving) selected attachments.
After those tweaks: 5/5 - does what it's meant to do.
Hi ZeBoxx, I will put your suggestions into the extension. Haven't updated it for ages as it contains binaries that I didn't write and I am a little concerned I might not get it through the review process. But its time I updated it - what's step 2 ?

I agree with MrSpock. This add-on is very nice. I give it 4 stars, but if there was a ctrl+v paste option I would give it a perfect 5 star rating!
Either way, great add-on!!!
Thanks!!!

Nice Addon ! :-)
Would also be great to extend this Addon to "PASTE FILE FROM clipboard AS ATTACHMENT".
Because currently there's no way to paste a file from the clipboard as ATTACHMENT into a compose window by using the Ctrl+V keys (as in MS Outlook) or by using a mouse-right-cklick (context menue grayed-out).
Using Ctrl+V only results in inserting a text like "file:///C:/Test.xls" instead of the file itself.
Okay, it's possible to attach a file by dragging/dropping or clicking through the menu/searching for the file... but it's unconvenient and time-consuming.
Hope, you can help (= enabling Ctrl+V and right-click-contrext-menu).
Thanks ;-)

I am earning lot of times every days thanks to this module.
I am working in the customer support domain and I receive 8 or 10 files by mails.
Copy & paste is quicker than the thunderbird default system to put the files in archive directories.
Only one limitation, the system need to download file when you copy them and sometimes, you paste the file before they have been copyied. You just need to repast.
Great module !

Saludos,
Nieves

This is a great add-on. I used it several months but I noted that I could not open messages with double click.
Today I disabled all add-ons and re-enabled them once by once and found that it is Copy Attachment to Clipboard.
What a pity. I really like this add-on but disabled it for now.
The add-ons is dead I suppose because the owner hasn't resolved this problem over several months.

Just to add to what's been said; not only can you not open messages in a new window, you can't open *.eml files from your computer, or attached to other messages. The addon is a good idea, but it needs a fix for this issue.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5).Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Still not possible to open messages in a new window with Thunderbird 2.0.0.14 . Disabled the add-on, waiting for an update. Thank you!
