Love the add-on, but it is not compatible with TB 91.0 as of now.

I haven't yet used the add-on, but I would LOVE to see a column for use in All Mail that would show what FOLDER the mail resides in!

Superb add-on that lets you control your default columns for new folders, reset folders to your chosen viewing configuration, brings back the much needed Cc column to the Inbox and Sent windows (if you want them), and even lets you add a Bcc column. Love the ease of use and the control it finally gives me over my TB workspace. Can't recommend highly enough.

Until this is updated to work with 68+, is there a (manual) work-around to set the new column defaults?
Super useful addon, and I liked it very much!!!

Edit: I found what was causing the problem: the mail header field *must be in lowercase* in the extension options, even if it is in mixed case in the message header.
Fields created with the extension are not populated when importing mbox files using the ImportExportTools addon.
Column is active in the folder that will receive the messages, with the "Apply columns to / Folder and its children" option enabled.

Added columns that used X-Spam-Bar or X-Spam-Score headers but the column shows no values for any of the emails. Using Thunderbird version 60.6.1.

I have the current 6.1.2 ColumnsWizard running under Windows10 Thunderbird 60.6.1 32bit
the xspam score is one of the columns I always have and currently do not see an issue.
Can you post more details on the support site so I can troubleshoot it, thanks.

you just need to add the css for the options (setings.xul) to make them working again. See the 57 addon document, somewhat hidden, I oversaw it for my addons as well:
add "<?xml-stylesheet type="text/css" href="chrome://messenger/skin/preferences/preferences.css"?>
" without the "

As the development of the extension is suspended I provide the warning for its prospective users here.
The way the settings window of this extension works in Thunderbird 60.* is completely buggy. If someone uses the extension options button to open it then the displayed window cannot be closed: escape key doesn't work, there's no "close" button.
The window is centered on the screen and not movable. When another application window is activated then clicking the main Thunderbird window doesn't reactivate it - it's necessary to click ColumnsWizzard's options window first, then Thunderbird window. Fortunately, it's possible to close Thunderbird because while option windows can't be moved the main window can...

Edit: Just tested again with 52.9.0, but still the same.

I wanted to expose the url of RSS messages. A column with the Header 'content-base' did the trick.

I wanted to see 'X-Delivered-to' information in a column.
I clicked > Options > Custom Column Editor > General
Added the following ...
ID: test
Mail Header: X-Delivered-to
Column Name: Delivered To
Tooltip: Sort By Delivered To
Works fine, could not find any examples on the dev's website, so hope the above helps someone

I was looking for a way to make Thunderbird actually show the e-mail address of who sent a message when viewing a message list. Thunderbird only does this if a) there's no entry for the address in your address book and b) if the address doesn't have a "personal name" associated with it. Since most e-mails are now sent out in the "Name" <email-addres> format, the "From" column in message list view is pretty useless. And it makes it great for phishing attacks.
This add-on comes with some custom columns already configured: BCC, CC, Content-Base, X-Spam-Score, and X-Original-From. But! They will not be visible nor accessible from message list view until you actually enable them in ColumnsWizard.
(You do that by clicking the ColumnsWizard toolbar button, then click the Custom Columns tab and check off the columns you want to enable).
Once enabled, whatever custom columns you've set-up become *available* for message list view. Like any of the stock columns, you can enable or disable them, sort by them, size them and position them.
Adding a custom column is pretty simple. You just specify an ID (a unique string of your own choosing), the actual mail header for the column (Such as replyTo, Sender, etc) and the display name and tooltip for the column. Then you just enable it.
I setup one for "Sender" and it works great. The previous one-star review saying it doesn't probably didn't look at the docs or go through the config.
Minor issues:
1) It looks like custom columns, unlike stock columns, will not remember their size between Thunderbird sessions. Positioning does stay though.
2) A custom column can only map to one mail header. Which is generally fine, but some mail clients and servers provide useful information under more than one header (Both "Sender:" and "X-Sender:" are used for the original sender address, for example). If there was a way to map multiple headers to a column and give them a priority, that'd be useful. But that's not a deal-breaker for me.
Other nice feartures of this addon include being able to specify the default columns layout for message view for any new folders you create, some extra columns for Conversation view, the ability to enable mail header editing, and the ability to reset columns to the ColumnsWizard default you've setup.
Overall, very nice add-on that does what I want and more. Cheers to the author!

Hello,
I installed on all my machines extension and setup the same headers / columns that i would like to use. But they are only visible on the machine that is editing them. I did a repair folder to see if it will pull or show them
in the columns view. However custom headers are visible in the message on all devices but they are not showing on the columns.
Did I do wrong configuration?
Rating 3 because of this! Only usuable on one instance/device. If more used you need to look in the headers manually.
Thanks.
Folder repairing is not working on every Thunderbird version.
Are you using an IMAP account? Have you tried to force an update of the folder using the "send and receive" command? Sadly it's not possibile to have control on how Thunderbird manages an already downloaded message with a change in an header. Have you checked the "Force changes when using IMAP accounts" option?
Please, file an issue at https://github.com/micz/ColumnsWizard/issues/ describing your problem, the Thunderbird version used and your Operating System, so I can help you further.
Thank you.
