This newest update got me to switch from Sunbird to Lightning (which I wanted to do for a while). I did not like the calendar on the bottom left taking up folder space (I have a lot of email folders). The new buttons are much better.

I do wish it was more customizable though. I would love to get rid of that small toolbar altogether and add the buttons to the main toolbar (i.e. a calendar button when looking at email and an email button when looking at calendar). Also, to have the option to loose the "today pane" would be great as well.

I for one though think this is all moving in the right direction... keep up the great work!

Tasks should be on same page as calendar not with email. Otherwise Lightning is excellent!

I love the program, and use it a lot

There are some changes I would like to see in future builds

1. I would like to be able to have a choice of personal client etc all it shows is none.

2. I would like to be able to color code events

3. I would like to be able to put a x next to things missed and a check next to things completed
and have that show up on the calendar next to the event button

4. I would like a search function

5. I would like to be able to print an actually calendar instead of a list of events and tasks.

Still waiting for an updated layout. The new layout in 0.7 was a bad idea : I am still using 0.5 !

Beautiful graphic but I have returned to the previous version (rel. 0.5): with Vista Home Premium this release stops the access to the server. Impossible to send and to receive the mail. If I disable Lightining 0.7, Thunderbird works rightly. All ok with release 0.5.

I've had Lightning installed for over 6 months, but after the first day never had it displayed.

After this last update (around the first of November) whatever you changed...all I can say is *WOW*! I love it!

I love how it can be, in effect, minimized. I think that's what I didn't like about it before, it took way too much real estate in Thunderbird's window. Now I can open and close the calendar as needed, and when it's not needed, it's out of the way.

Awesome! Thank you!

I do not like the fact that we have yet another side bar on the right side of the screen. I tried to see if there was a way to reconfigure in settings, but there isn't. It's back to ,5 for me. I will only use the new version if you get rid of the space wasting side bar, or at least give us a way to reconfigure.

I can understand where the other posters are comming from in wanting a little month view calendar in the corner--but that being said a full-screen calendar view is only a click away so see ahead so it's no big deal to me. I expand the task list to cover the right side portion and I think it's handy as hell having Sunbird within Thunderbird instead of a separate window/app. Two thumbs up to the Mozilla crew for this extension and the next time the upgrade calendar feature I'm sure they'll have different view options to make those who like either the previous or current versions happy.

This version sucked. I like having it in the side panel where I can see it along with my inboxes. Also When I updated I lost everything that I had programmed into my calendar. Luckly when i uninstalled and reinstalled version 0.5 again it all game back. Version 0.7 was a major fail.

I've been waiting for something like Lightning add-on to Thunderbird so I can finally ditch Outlook. 0.7 is close - but still not quite. The problem is that the Custom Repeat feature is way too simplistic. It would be nice if our life is as simple as "Every Weekday at 2:00PM go pick up your kid". As we all know, that's not how things work. It's more like:

Pickup you kid every weekday at 2:00PM except Thursday which is a short day and they get off at 1:30PM, and only if it's not a holiday, nor during quarter breaks which occurs between xxx and xxx, unless it's parent conference week which means everyday is minimum day and they got off at 12:30PM except Thursday because that's a short day already, not a minimum day....

Would be nice if that can be handled by Lightning of course but short of that, at least match what Outlook is doing: Do this on every weekday except ...

Other than that, the rest of Lightning looks very promising....

Thanks to all the developers.

A great step forward. I didn't like Lightning take so much space from my mail folders list. Now it's on a separate space on the right, can be switched on and off by a simple click... very good. And yes, all calendars were disabled, I had to enable them manually. That's why it's an 8, not a 10.

The new 0.7 version looks great, it has to be said, and I'm sure that it adds all kinds of great synergistic functionality for todays modern go-getter, but I only had it installed for about 30 min, due to the removal of (for me) lightning's best feature, the month calender in the bottom left hand corner. I use Thunderbird for my personal at home e-mailing, and I don't really need detailed daily schedules, or weekly layouts, I need to see what day of the month Saturday two weeks is. There are lots of ways to find out this information, but I especially like to turn my eyeballs about 10 degrees to the left. I'm sure a lot of people don't miss this feature, but I like it so much I wish that the month calendar would appear in the compose e-mail window too. So, if you like that calender, stay away from 0.7, of course if you don't care about it, then I think this version will be a great improvement for you. As for me, I am waiting for v0.71, where there is a little box you can tick in the settings to "show month calender", and I'm not going to blindly update this extension ever again, first I will check out the forums.

I agree with sendspace I don't like the new view.
All entries are killed.

I'll go back to 0.5!

I use a rotated display, and the 0.7 "today pane" IS a pain. This new view type needs to be an option. The other way was far superior IMO.

I rolled back to 0.5. Here's a link for anyone that's looking:

Do not like the waste of screen space below my folders, which used to be utilized by the calendar. I don't want to have to lose the mail view, just to see my calendar. If I wanted that, I'd already be using Sunbird, in a separate window.

Even on a wide-screen at 1440x900, the new 'Today' pane takes way too much room from the message list, especially since I use the Show Address add-on so I can see the real sender when sifting out spam.

My only option is to widen the T-bird window and cover up 3 vertical rows of shortcuts on my desktop that I use all the time, or go back to the previous version. Unfortunately, I don't see any option in the Update Notifier add-on to ignore Lightning updates. I'm hoping the developers give us back the option to keep the old display. HINT HINT
