I've only used lightning for a short time, but I'm very happy to have the calendar capability in the e-mail app. Using 0.7 with the 0.3 Google iCal provider under TBird 2.0 is working well on WinVista.

I would like to see the sidebar include a month calendar - allowing clicking on the date to change the appointment view. Having today's date at the top of the sidebar doesn't convey very much considering the amount of space it takes.

Thanks!!

I don't like the layout of .7 at all.
As stated earlier I like to the calendar on my
Thunderbird email layout, not on a separate page.
There is too much wasted space where the new icon switches are in the left hand corner. To me this redesign is a huge step backwards for this formerly very cool extension. While I am sure it has more functionality, the layout is awful. Looks are everything! I guess I'll have to remove it.
Its no good anymore.

Looks nice, but if I try to save an event, Thunderbird crashes with a "Please tell Microsoft about this problem" message. Will have to revert to 0.5. Anybody else has this problem? (I'm running TB 2.0.0.6 on XP)

I like the new layout. However, after updating using the Addon box within T\'bird I found that all my calendar events and all my tasks were not there. I went to the Lightening site and THERE was a warning that I should have exported my calendar .ics file BEFORE I updated! Silly me. I though the update process should have warned me about that in advance.\r\n\r\nHowever, I unistalled ver .7, re-installed ver .5, exported, uninstalled .5, reinstalled, and all was good.\r\n\r\nVery nice addon. Just kinda scared me after install. :-)

Not very good, too Microsoft look and feel, month calendar gone. Went back to prior version. Advice do not upgrade.

Maybe I'm in left field, but I installed ligtning because I like the calendar displayed as an add-in or extention to my e-mail program, Thunderbird. I loved it.

Now I upgrade to 0.7 and the calendar display is gone from my e-mail display. Instead it is on a separate page; just like outlook. If I wanted a separate calendar, do you think I might have been able to find one somewhere on the internet?

I'm sure that there are tons of slick new features added, but I use none of them. I just want to see the calendar while I write emails in Thunderbird, and click an appointment note when I need to. This upgrade rivals a Microsoft upgrade in its ability to eliminate existing functionalty.

Perhaps I will be chastised for failing to figure out how to get the functionality that I used to have. But really, if I can't find it by dragging separator bars, right clicking items, and browsing the menu items within a minute or two, then it might as well not be there.

I had disable Lightning because it took too much space away from the Folder sidebar. The new version (0.7) integrates far better, with its panel on the right of TB. A handy toggle between email-view and calendar-view is added. Recommended.

Whatever the merits of the 0.7 release, and I'm sure there are many, blowing away existing calendar entries without so much as a warning is absolutely unacceptable.

As others have noted, rolling back to 0.5 restores the entries, but it's a painful and time-consuming process.

This is a must-fix issue.

I like the panel at the bottom of the screen, however, only the half of it is used and the rest is wasted, you guys could add something useful here for the next release.

I was having problems with reminders, for some reason I wasn't receiving them even when I reinstalled the add-on. but with this release it was fixed.

After restarting Thunderbird, I was so worried because my calendar was empty. When I added a new one, I got all my events back so, you should fix this too to avoid suicides :-) .

Keep up the good work!

I love how you put the Show today pane to the right side. Now I'm able to see all of my folders on the left. Thanks for your work guys!

Lightning needs some way of searching for an appointment or event by entering a keyword. Perhaps it already has one and I'm too dense to fine it.

Where the hell did my messages go?

Turned off Contacts List (separate add-on)

There they are.

Would be nice to have an on-off toggle.

Not nice to see messages DISAPPEAR from view.

It appeared as though my whole email system
had been co-opted by Lightning.

Nice looking. Bad behavior.

I'd like to respond to some of the comments. The installation is kind of weird but the instructions are correct! Right click and save the install file. Then select tools->add-ons from the thunderbird program to install the calendar. Secondly, the calendar gadget can easily be hidden. Simply grab the horizontal bar between the folder selections and the calendar and drag it toward the bottom and the calendar gadget will disappear. When you want it back, grab the bar at the bottom and pull it back up.

Concur with Bonejob (September 22, 2007). Palm sync is critical shortcoming. Great otherwise. Not being able to sync with my Treo 700 requires me to monitor two calendars. Not something I have time to do.

It's a good program. But I like to have a print-command for the "Aufgabe" like for the "Termine" or for both together.

Serious problems with events disappearing and the necessity to restart app when reloading calendars (yes, I understand the checkboxes next to the calendar names)....... Also noticed that write failures are not handled very well along with read failures that are not reported. Setting a new remote calendar with a typo reveals that there is no warning that an ics file could not be found for the average user and therefore can lead to misunderstanding that all is well when it is in fact not.
