It was great add-on. But it is not available on TB78.
There is a fork. It looks good to me.

Instead of this incompatible add-on I use CardBook for TB68.
One of features is "don't use displayed name, but only email address"

動作については確認中だが、正しく機能している様に見える。

It's a very useful Add-on.
I strongly hope it be updated to Thunderbird current version.

Auto Address Cleaner seems to prohitis saving templates with strings like {{Email}} in receiver fields as To. Saving works but these fields are empty again. MailMerge first saves a template and then uses this template. It requires such variable placeholders in the fields To, CC or BCC to replace them with the real email addresses.
It would be nice if Auto Address Cleaner would retain such variable definitions.

This is excellent Addon.
Simple and works well.

But at recent update on April 24th, this addon got to conflict with Mail Merge Addon.
Probably, when user send a message, both Auto Address Cleaner and Mail Merge may replace e-mail addresses.
And something get wrong. User cannot send messages.
Please kindly check this issue.

Dear Creator,

Thank you very much for your quick production of v1.0.4.
It works perfect with v45.0.
Excellent.

This extension does not seem to work together with Send Later, i.e. when the mail is set to be sent later the recipient alias does not get removed to a simple email address.
May I have also suggest to clean email address into all in small case as well? Many thanks.

Handy add-on. Works as expected, even in Thunderbird 38.0.1.

Still works with 31.4.0

I put notes on people's name in my address book. Like "FL-social-Annie-L.A." and stuff. I had no idea this junk was being sent to them.

Kinda hard to do test run this add-on by sending yourself emails because Tbird put the names in your email that you give them. Plus it likes to but the words "me" on it. Like I don't know my own accounts?

I used an old "Yahoo service" email (online) that I never use and was able to test it. SURE enough all that crap was getting sent to them.

Now the extra information seems like it only goes out to them when you use the address book to look them up. Looked like that if just typed/pasted the email in that it would not send the Non-needed information. If you do use the address book's "auto finish" to look up an emails you can still you clean it up by hand before you send it but this is not needed if you have this add-on.

A good thing to expand on this add-on would be to be able to auto-CHOOSE what is sent out to people. Like use the "Nickname" slot go out to them rather than the "Display Name" So your address book may say "whiny girl annie from L.A." but you send out "BFF Annie" . . . well yea a work around may/could be to just call them that in my address book but then I would not know who all my whiny friends from L.A. are :)

It removes a big nuisance. It works and works well. That is well designed tech!

Works great with Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1.1.0, with was updated on 04/28/11. I did not know I needed this add-on until I tried it. It just shows the email address without the name and extra symbols (example: [email protected]). When you write an email, your unsent message has a clean address area, whether you use the To, Cc or Bcc fields.

I hope this gets updated quickly as it does not seem to work for TB 3.1.7, otherwise an excellent add on :D
