This addon could be really useful if it would remember the "Compact View" state of the Favorite Folders pane.
For example, when I'm in Favorite Folders, with compact view turned on, and then switch to another view and back to favorites, compact view is off.

Unfortunately that takes away the usefulness for me since I use favorites a lot.

Hi there,

I can confirm that this is an issue. Can you confirm that this only happens when you're switching to the "full folder view" (Thunderbird's standard view) and back?

Please send this piece of information along your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux) and the used Thunderbird version via email, replace () with @ and replace the ":" with a single dot .

Thunderbird upgraded to the new version, but it didn't work - arrows did nothing, trying to go to settings said "TypeError: FPVSOptions.prefs.prefs is undefined".

Issue #26 on Github https://github.com/Extended-Thunder/folder-pane-view-switcher/issues/26 gave a workaround:

1. Removed the add-on
2. Restarted TB
3. Searched for add-on through extensions page in app
4. Loaded add-on
5. Works!

and that seems to work for me. Very happy this extension is working again.

One of my "goto" addons in any new TBird installation. I missed not having this. Trying the Beta and is seems to work fine on 91.7 under Linux Mint. I only miss the part of "Unread Compact". Is that coming back???

Passed a month after the developer wrote:

Not compatible with the latest Thunderbird after months.

Really disappointed as I championed this and the other add-ons through Kickstarter a while back. Kind-of feel robbed now :-(

Doesn't appear to be any other way to switch to show unread folders easily as the built-in thing doesn't refresh itself.

Is it time to look elsewhere for a mail handler?

Great add-on, I've used it many times a day for years.

I miss it for the latest TB release. Is it going to be updated?

Excellent add-on, even with this issue of not starting with Thunderbird. It actually does not need to be re-installed, it is enough to 'remove' it and then 'undo', so literally two clicks, and it reappears.

It should be VERY fine, but unusable due to incompatibility with the actual version of thunderbird: 78.14.0 (32 bit)

It needs to be reinstalled at every program start, otherwise the pane disappears.

I'm sorry. We're working on it.

Excellent add-on but still not working right at TB start: I need to re-install it every time TB is started to actually see the arrows

We're aware of the issue and we're working on a fix. I am sorry about the trouble.

Excellent addon. Thank you for the great work, its saving me a lot of time.

Is there a shortcut for going to the next/previous folder view? If not, can this be added? I am using Dorando keyconfig but dont see any config for this.

I have used this handy Add-On for several years through several versions of Thunderbird and several releases of this Add-On. Unfortunately though the latest release (4.0.1) does not appear to be functioning properly with Thunderbird 78.5.1 (64-bit). I have lost the arrow to scroll through the various panes. The pull down menu is there to select the folder view , but I think that may be standard in Thunderbird (been so long using Folder Pane View Switcher that I do not know what is standard).. The arrows were the key functionality of this Add-On and I am sad they are no longer there. Hopefully this will be fixed in a future release (or perhaps there is another fix for this?). Yes, I have checked the Options box for "Show Folder Pane Arrows".
EDIT: The Folder arrows do appear when I go to the Add-On through the Add-On manager (under Tools), then click the link to the Add-on, then click +Add to Thunderbird. The arrows are there until I exit Thunderbird. When I restart it, they are gone again.
Issue still exists in Thunderbird v78.6.0 and 78.6.1 (64-bit) and v78.7.1 (64-bit).
This add-on appears to have stopped working all together for Thunderbird v78.9.0 (64 bit).
This extension is somewhat working in v78.11.0 (64-bit) but it still turns off every time I exit Thunderbird and I have to re-add it every time I restart Thunderbird. I leave it open in a Thunderbird tab so I can add it each time.

Ein fast perfektes Add-on.

I am very glad that this add-on was ported to the 78 Thunderbird. I organize my emails by correspondents, and over the years they have add up. Just clicking the right arrow to view only the new, unread messages is great. Thunderbird itself has a dropdown box to do so, but Folder Pane Switcher is much, much easier to use. Very recommended!

Why does this very simple add-on ask permission for "full, unrestricted access to Thunderbird and your computer" ?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.0.1).

Because the permissions model in Thunderbird is poor and it doesn't have enough supported add-on APIs to implement the functionality of this add-on without embedding an "experimental" API in it and the indicated permission is required whenever an "experimental" API is included in an add-on.

Very, very, very useful add-on. I realised that it is a must-have only when I installed it because I was curious. Thanks a lot!
