Default map template is ridiculous, and the plugin doesn't save template preferences.

According Mailhop website, this project is down. I am so sorry as was a wonderful extension.

Works good for most mails. For some mails (usually direct mails (sender and receiver from same domain)) weird route is shown and IP addresses and domain names are shown which are not contained in the source of the mail. No, means to file bug report or contacting anybody. How disappointing.

What no one has mentioned is that when your MTA supports email authentication (DKIM or SPF), MailHops displays the results, and the details are visible with hover. No more clicking on "View Source" to find the authentication headers. The hops is handy, and the map is just eye candy but fun.
It seems to look at both Authentication-Results and Received-SPF.
Question: how does it determine whether these header are trusted? Does it assume the MTA either strips or adds to the top?
Bug: when the geoip route lookup service is unavailable, the Hops dropdown should still be populated. The route and map are just eye candy, not essential.

This is what you've been looking for. See where an email is coming from, where it hopped through. It shows you the user agent of the mail client of the sender. It's free, fast, and awesome.

I really like this plug-in. There's lots of scams out there and when someone emails you and says they are from somewhere, this plug-in will help you determine if the sender is authentic. Of course, it's not perfect, but in my testing, I found it helpful and accurate many times. I take preference to the options it offers and has made it in to my list of must haves.

Will you consider supporting SSL/TLS lookups?
Love the add-on. Just wish it used port 443 to do the lookups on.

The change you just made (on your server, I assume) seems to have addressed my concern about the wrong location being reported -- at least in part. I'm still seeing problems with some e-mail; I sent another screen shot to your Facebook account.

Je ne trouve pas que ce soit bien fait comme extension dans le sens où les distances ne sont pas exactes, et les villes reprenant le lieu des contacts non plus ...

@techanon - you don't need to disable Conversations to use MailHops, if you choose "view using the classic reader" from the "more" menu on the right side of the message you'll see where the message was sent from.
Said this, it'd be nice if MailHops played nice with Conversations and integrated with it.

I love this add-on. installs and works with v.8 TB.
Does not show up if you use 'conversations' add-on so i disabled that :)

Installed seamlessly in TB8. New line in reading pane shows flag-button for map, and email source location. Confirmation email for Mozilla signup made two cross-US trips.

good idea - but it dont works for me. it says on every mail "local message" ...

i use a arcor.de account (pop3.arcor.de)
are you using this on a gmail account? gmail to gmail will say that because there are no public IP addresses. I can only lookup public IP addresses that exist in the header of the email.
