Very functional extension.

A simple ability to select which accounts' emails should be checked - very useful for those with multiple email IDs.

A pity that Mozilla, for all its good work, does not provide the extra support such developers need to keep them in step with Mozilla's development plans.

Here is hoping that Mozilla and such developers work well together and such useful extensions have an easy path to staying usable on new versions of Thunderbird.

Thanks to the developer for an excellent extension.

Says exactly what it does and does exactly what it says, which I think is the best review that one can give an add-on. Should be a default part of Thunderbird.

Mhh, what do you mean by "bloated" ?
Which icon are you talking about?

Tout simplement indispensable ! L'interface est très claire, les options nombreuses et l'utilisation simple comme bonjour. Permet de choisir ses connexions et d'éviter les messages d'erreurs si vous conservez les mails d'anciens comptes supprimés. Merci.

Perfect add-on. Only drawback is that the last version 0.9.14 is not working with TB 3.1.20. I had to install previous version 0.9.5 which works perfectly.

Thanks for your review and your report.
The bug has been fixed in forthcoming 0.9.15 version.

Just realized this could do a delay between account retrieval. Has got rid of the problems I was having. Glad I decided to look through the "Settings" tabs. Great addon.

In case someone can't see his second, etc. profile: in my TB the second profile only shows up, if the "Custom button"-option for the first profile gets unclicked. (But you can still create a custom button for the first profile, as long as the "Custom button"-option is clicked, you just have to unclick it afterwards for the second profile to show.)

Edit June 4th:
The problem I described above has to do with my using the "Menu Bar" for all my buttons. "Get Selected Mails" seems to work properly in the "Toolbar", but not quite so properly in the "Menu Bar".

Edit June 10th:
After I mentioned the issue with the Menu Bar (the first GSM was designed to work only with the "Mail Toolbar"), the developer actually rewrote the GSM engine, and now GSM works perfectly even in the Menu Bar.

It seems you've got some unwanted behaviour. Can you contact me at [email protected]? I'm looking forward joining you to know more about your comment. Thanks

I was searching for a way to mimic what I used to do with Outlook where I have multiple e-mail accounts connected to a single .pst file that I "took with me" from home to work. This works pretty well. I too would like to see the ability to create a button for each profile, then it would be perfect.

One thing that I miss from Outlook is that when you click "send/receive" or hit F9, it only looks for mail from accounts that are checked to do so. In TB, even if you have unchecked all the boxes in the server settings, if you click "get mail" it gets them for every account.

This is where the "get selected mails" works so nicely, but let's say I'm trying to change the profile and don't quite click on the down arrow on the edge of the button and click the button instead, I just checked all my mail when I didn't want to.

Let's say I log into my home PC remotely from work, and I need to check messages that stay on that PC and that PC only. I don't want to check messages on accounts that I "carry" with me. If I click the wrong button, I will do exactly that.

Having a completely separate button that could be connected to a specific profile would solve my particular set of issue better.

I read TFM, if the page https://addons.mozilla.org/hu/thunderbird/addon/get-selected-mails/ is that, but i didn't find the reply for my question.

I asked: is it possible to disable IMAP account connection with the Get Selected Mails add-on?

I don't find any solution for my problem: my TB handling 4 IMAP account, but I want to connect to only one at the same time.
The "Check for new messages at startup" and also "Check for new messages every NN minutes" does not affect the IMAP.
I know there is a IDLE command, which remains connected, checking contionusly the server, I could turn off this in the "Account settings". Same here:
http://groups.google.com/a/googleproductforums.com/forum/#!category-topic/gmail/computer-email-program-please-specify-apple-mail-outlook-thunderbird-etc/YxMQEMsDUnY

But, it's not right, because:
https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/mozilla.support.thunderbird/-XmdF6MI2Hg

At a glance: disble the IDLE command not solve the problem, because "Thunderbird will still update folders when you change folders. This is basically just how IMAP works.". I think the only solution to get selective offline mode for the IMAP accounts.

How could the Get Selected Mails add-on do this? I am wondering, because it's promise supporting the IMAP accounts, but how?

Thank you!

P.S. in total Get Selected Mails great app for POP3 accounts, congratulation for you!

Simple but great, right what I was looking for.
I confirm you can set different profiles with different subsets of account; then you can just press the button and download the default profile's mails, or choose a different profile.

Note: after set the profile(s) remember to restart Thunderbird, or you won't see any cange.

@developer: would be even nicer to have different buttons for different profiles

Hi, thanks for the review.
I'm astonished you got to restart TB in order to enable changes. If you got some time to help me, please contact me at getselectedmails(at)gmail(dot)com so we fix this.
Considering your feature request, i'm gonna see how to deal with it. Just to be sure: you mean a dedicated button for one profile, don't you? Regards
