During purchase, was never told that the email(in my case, forwarder to track misuse of email addresses) had to be in the list of mail accounts. Purchased the pro account, was told when applying the key.
Uninstalled due to it being unusable.

This is a great add-on and gives my emails a really professional look for a nominal cost (I have the Pro version). It also saves me time and money, by allowing me to use more than 25 standard templates in the two languagues I use for business (English and Greek). Generally the package is slick and reliable, but if I discover a bug or make a suggestion, the developer Axel Grude investigates them very quickly and provides clear feedback. I too was a software developer previously, so I appreciate his expertise abd dedication. I can't imagine how I could use Thunderbird for business without this package.

Excellent!
My previous message template TB extension was good but no longer supported so I moved to SmartTemplates. SmartTemplates worked with my existing templates and it is more flexible, more sophisticated (variables). I was well supported when I had teething problems. Completely worth the small annual fee to support the development.
I am a long-standing software professional and I am easily displeased with most software because it is poorly thought out and/or badly made. SmartTemplates seems well designed and it works. I am very happy.

i used to using this extension with my old laptop. but now it's not working properly with my Macbook Air M1 + Thunderbird 91 version. Always disable after restarting TB

This addon works great! Special thanks to the developer for the ultra fast support; we had an issue with a minor bug and it was fixed in just a couple of hours. Definitely worth the money.

RIESENKOMPLIMENT an die Entwickler dieses Projekts! Ihr habt es geschafft, dieses geniale Add-on nach TB 78 zu portieren.
Funktioniert bei mir tadellos!
Persönlich empfehle ich allen, eine Standardlizenz für WENIG Geld zu erwerben. Das Add-on ist es WERT! Und dahinter steht ein riesen Arbeitseinsatz.
Habe noch eine ANREGUNG: Ich habe ca. 10 HTML- Vorlagen unter "Verfassen" eingerichtet. Es wäre toll, wenn man alles auf ein Mal rüberkopieren könnte in den Tab "Antworten" und "Weiterleiten" – statt unter diesen beiden Tabs wieder alles eingeben zu müssen....

Und noch eine ANREGUNG: Könntest Du bei den 3 Tabs noch einen Schalter "Trennlinie" einbauen? Bis jetzt helfe ich mir damit, dass ich eine leere HTML-Datei "hinzufüge" mit dem "Titel" "--------------------------". Das geht, ist aber etwas stümperhaft....

I paid for the addon just tofind out I cannot use it because of an internal bug which made it imposible for me to switch accounts for outgoing messages. As this is a crucial option for me, the purchased add-on turned out useless for me. The developer communicated with me and could replicate the buggy behavior of the add-on but the problem has not been solved.
Follow-up 2020-07-13:
Yes it was reported on github as issue #37. The developer marked it as bug himself and as of today it is stil open.

Indispensable add-on for every hardcore email user and for them who want their email look unique and have differently designed templates for different accounts. Very good functionality and many options for customization, especially the licensed version. Frankly, it should be TB core functionality!
And the author, Axel Grude, is an extremely helpful dude.

It is easy to use this Add-on. I was very much impressed by the quality and prompness of the support, in particular the fact that Axel Grude was even interested in improving the accessibility of ST4 for screenreader users.

Essential backup in order to make your emails look professional. Covers pretty much all situations and the author is going the extra mile supporting and improving his addon. Pro license highly recommended!
As long as the author still supports version 60 of TB I'll keep being a loyal user. Can't move away from v60 because they in their glorious wisdom decided to remove full theming support in later versions. Another topic...
I will try to keep support Thunderbird 60 as long as possible! In fact, I had a Postbox user complaining about incompatibility so I had to take down the compatibility flags on the variable page for 2.1 onwards - 2.9.2 will be "mostly" compatible with Postbox 5.5 (I haven't looked at the file template button integration yet). There is a github issue [#55] with some hot-patched versions for Postbox users

We have been crazy about well-designed email templates not only for our own brands but also for our clients for as long as I can remember. Thunderbird is the top email client and with it comes this "next level" smart template add on. Axel is outstanding with exceptional knowledge and understanding of our requirements. First installation and, without using it, a message in the bottom enjoigned me to buy an annual license.
It's probably a great tool but not for personal or educational use, I don't need it up to pay for it.
I'm disappointed because I've not seen that a paid extension (but I understand the author for that)

All functionality runs as trial version for 28 days, and I needed to show this in some way. Writing Add-ons is a fulltime job at this stage, sorry I can't do it for free. I still believe it's a huge time saver and well worth the 5$. (4$ when on special offer)
PS: if you can't afford it at the moment I can make you a free trial license, just send me an email!

Good add-on. The basic functionality should be a part of Thunderbird by default, imo. Does require purchasing a license annually, but it's only a few dollars and I understand why the developer asks for it... Still, minus a star for non-free addon.
