After changing MSG_FOLDER_FLAG_INBOX from 0x1000 to 0x0004 ("Mail" folder instead of "Inbox") in /chrome/content/unreadcount.js it counts unread mails in *all* folders of the account (not just inbox and subfolders).

It works like a charm now. :-)

im glad you got it to do what you want.
as for me, i dont want anything not in my inbox, but i suppose i could add a preference if i get some time.

This is the perfect addon for hooking your unread count into external scripts or custom displays. I use it in conjunction with xmobar to display my unread count at the top of my screens in xmonad.
