Simply it doesn't work. After the installation all the attachments still arrive as winmail.dat files. Deleting the mimeTypes.rdf file I don't solve the problem....

I've been using it on Thunderbird for OS X and Linux Mint LMDE (debian edition)
It just works!!! Perfect!

Great for reading that odd attachment from Outlook mail. Works seamlessly.

Got email forwarded from a Outlook 2010 client and was surprised with winmail attachments instead of documents. I was able to open them with ease using this add-on, thanks!

Working for me on 24.6.0 and I'm very thankful for it.

Great add-on. Essential to TB in a production environment. Unfortunately it stopped working with TB 24.2.0

It stopped working recently, I'm not sure since which update it stopped, but I'm currently running Linux Thunderbirt 24.2.0 version. Hope to find a fix soon.

Stopped working for me with 24.1.1. It's so critical to the use of TB, that if it continues to not work we'll have to migrate to another client. This functionality is necessary for TB in an office environment.

Worked fine withhout any tweaks in Thunderbird 24.1

This works great for me in Thunderbird 24 after a small tweak. Close Thunderbird, then delete (or rename) your mimeTypes.rdf file, then start Thunderbird. I think I had associated application/tnef with something else before, causing the suggested fix below (adding to mimeTypes.rdf) to fail for me.

I tried the fix suggested by a previous reviewer, and that fix isn't working either. I would very much love to view my attachments, but I still can't. Too bad - it seems like this is such an essential tool.

Doesn't work on TB 17.0.6 too, but I suppose this bug it's not strictly related with TB version.
After a few testing I saw that the addin doesn't manage the winmail.dat attachment because of a missing entry into mimeTypes.rdf file.

To fix it:
- close all Thunderbird instances
- open your profile folder (on Windows press WIN+R, write %appdata% and press ENTER)
- make a backup copy of mimeTypes.rdf file
- open mimeTypes.rdf with your preferred text editor
- go to the end and paste this content ust before the last line (</RDF:RDF>)

Works directly! Maybe as a new feater, a checkbox to disable the other files. I'm getting a .dat file and I'm only interested in the .doc file and not the .html & .vcf :).

Attachments come through fantastic in TB17. Thank goodness!

hope to compatible with Thunderbird Conversations

Doesn't seem to work with TB 17. Clicking on attachments in an email just opens an open with dialog. When choosing Thunderbird as the application, it just opens an email with the ics file as an attachment. Read the instructions for Lookout. It seems like all I'd need to do is double-click the attachment in an email and it will load into the Lightning calendar. But it is not happening like that in my version.

I had a dire need for this add on and it works nicely.
