I was looking for a very simple alarm-type reminder, "simple" because when you're looking for something to do precisely one thing and one thing only, a fcuk-ton of settings doesn't help, it actually gets in the way. So I was happy to find this one :  set the time period to count down to and it notifies you when that period of time has elapsed. That's it and that's all.

That said, the WAY it notifies you is dismissively minimalistic. If the developer had chosen a more noticeable sound on his own, I would've had no complaints, but as the add-on stands, the very real possibility of the user not sitting right in front of the screen the second the time is up, combined with the VERY minimal single audio "ding" sound you get when time's up, makes it VERY easy to miss the notification if you're not focused (AND if you're not playing any music, even at low volume, AND if you're relatively physically close to the computer at that moment, etc.) What this is ABSOLUTELY missing is one… single… setting, and that would be a simple dialog to let the user choose his own notification sound. This would've been relatively easy to encode into the add-on, and would've changed it, for me and I'm sure for certain others, from almost useless to absolutely perfect. Even if the developer didn't want to go that far, all he had to do was choose a more intrusive sound than a single low-tone (pleasant even) note, like maybe a few loud beeps. Whatever. As it stands it's almost as if the notification is afraid to bother you too much and so just kind of gently nudges you. I'm 100% serious here :  THE PURPOSE OF THIS ADD-ON IS TO GET YOUR ATTENTION, NOT TO TRY AND BE INCONSPICUOUS !

4 stars for the single purpose simple design, 1½ stars for how well (or not) it accomplishes that purpose, averages out to 2¾ stars, so call it 3 stars at best … though I'd round down instead of up, to 2½ stars, it it were available, because "free" doesn't automatically imply "not thought out"… better luck next time bro.

Google Docs Viewer (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, etc...)

As I said, works great, the way I want a PDF viewer to work, with choice of views, download button, and so on. Only one caveat, and it's for Firefox users: in its settings, "open in new tab" doesn't work, it always opens in the same tab. This may be because Firefox allows you to open any link in a new tab by clicking the middle mouse button (or wheel) instead of the left button, and this may be overriding the Reader's setting. So for Firefox users, if you want the PDF to open in a new tab, just click the link with the middle mouse button as usual. Displays great though.

Private Tab

Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

As I said, simple and excellent :  right-click the tab in question and choose "Private Tab"… end of story. To cancel, right-click again and choose "Public Tab" ( or, if you're done, simply close the tab outright ). Allows you to have both public and private tabs within the same Firefox window. Didn't realize how much of a shortcoming the other (standard) way was until I saw this extension out of the corner of my eye . . . while searching for something else, no less. Serendipity, y'all. ;^˃
