I have been using Thunderbird for less than a week and ALREADY I have moved around folders by accident. Thank God someone made this add-on!

To answer what someone said in another review, if you DO want to move a folder, all you would need to do is to temporarily disable this add-on in the Tools menu. (If I am wrong, please let me know.)

I love this add-on! Unfortunately, it (version 3.2.0) has stopped working on my copy of Thunderbird 52.9.1 (32bit). I tried going back to the previous version of DragAndDrop, but that didn't work either. There must be something in the newest Thunderbird version that is affecting the add-on. I am on the "release" update channel and 52.9.1 is the latest version as of today (2018-07-20).
###EDIT###
Uninstalling & re-installing twice seems to have fixed whatever-issue-it-was. Happy again!

Solves a major problem (we should be able to do this from Thunderbird's native settings). I was so relieved to find it still works in the current version of TB (57), though installing it is somewhat convoluted, probably due to the legacy settings.

If you're having trouble, first you have to download the plugin file, then go to TB Tools/Add-Ons, select Extensions in the vertical menu on the left, then click the gear at the top of the page to access the menu with the option to "Install add-on from file."

For the person who asked how to disable it, you have to go to your extensions panel as described above and disable it, then close Thunderbird and reopen it. You will need to restart TB again when you re-enable it.

Yeah, that's a slight hassle, but not nearly as much of a hassle as accidentally dragging a folder with dozens of subfolders and hundreds of messages, which happens to me often!

Update 12-18-17: Still being maintained - just got an update to the current version of Thunderbird. If it was possible to deactivate and reactivate it without restarting Thunderbird twice, that would be perfect (I would pay for that).

Update 5/18/18 - I figured out a workaround to rebooting Thunderbird twice to disable and re-enable this plugin when you want to move a folder. Just rename the folder you want to move (I call it "delete me"), then create a new folder with the original name in the new location, then move all the posts to the new folder, then delete the now-empty old one. If you only have one folder to move, this is much faster than restarting TB twice.

This prevents wobbly hands and careless users dragging folders around willy-nilly or even in to Trash by mistake. Essential if you use IMAP particularly.

This addon is so helpful, exspecially when using touchpad it happens quite too often to accidentially move a folder, now this can finally be no more problem to me :)

i HATE when I don't even realize I've moved a folder until i am looking for it and it's missing. even worse, my IMAP server Automatically puts things in individual folders, so when they get moved some of my mail bounces. I have 2.1.0 installed on TB 24.1.1 and not sure if checkCompatibility 1.3 is making it happy or if it's natively happy. Thanks!

Great addon! The only thing I am missing is a possibility to temporary enable drag and drop again. Sometimes I need it but restarting TB to toggle this feature is not so nice...

I'm so happy to find this. I'm always accidentally moving folders without realizing it (I need a better mouse) and then my filters stop working properly. No more of that!

Thanks for this add-on! It really is great for IMAP accounts, where accidentally moving a folder can be a giant pain to fix.

This is a great feature for IMAP accounts where you don't want folder accidentally created on the server. Really creates havoc with gmail so I'm glad to have it disabled! Thanks!!

Thanks for this extension, works perfectly. It's a good workaround for the accidental drag/drop of folders trashing saved searches.

For reference, bug for the problem with saved searches is:
