Thanks a lot - I have based my own extension "Menu On Top" on your code, so this gave me a great head start. Personally I like the tools close to the window contents, but I absolutely despise having the menu there all the time; so thanks for a good tool idea with a great restartless execution.

A good extension! Thank You!

Great to have the menu bar back on top again. Wish it had the option to have the tool bar below the tabs, but can't have everything I suppose. Still better than the tabs on top.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.1.0).

What you want is possible without an add-on: create a folder "chrome" in your profile folder and add a file named "userChrome.css" with the following content:

#mail-toolbar-menubar2 {
-moz-box-ordinal-group: 10 !important;
}
#tabs-toolbar {
-moz-box-ordinal-group: 30 !important;
}

However, this add-on is required for moving the tool bar, as it is not moveable via userChrome. If you don't want to move your toolbar, you shouldn't need it ;)

If you struggle creating the userChrome, look at this article: http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css

Must-have:fixes elements of the interface shuffled around for no sensible reason.

I can't find a good point (or a point for that matter) to getting the tab bar over the tool bar, but I can understand some people might find it better for themselves. then let us have *the choice* to toggle the position *to our liking*.isn't that what open source is all about ?

My old about:config fix didn't work for Thunderbird 15 anymore, but your addon does the trick--thank you for fixing bugs Thunderbird developers building into the software!

Works fine but I would like to see one thing added ... it only handles the default tool bar ... it does not handle any additional tool bars that you add... other than that it is great.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.1.0).

I know that it does not handle other toolbars, and I made it that way for a reason: you can have a toolbar(s) for the mail tab only if you want to. This possibility would not exist if I would move all toolbars.

I understand that this answer does not help you directly, but maybe you can understand why I did it that way. I currently do not have the time for complex solutions like letting the user select toolbars, as I have some other projects I'm working on (and a real life, which is time consuming, too :P). However, I added this to my (long) todo list. Thanks for your feedback!

Schönes Add-on, gute Arbeit!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.1.0).

Weitere Informationen: http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css

#mail-bar3{
border-top: 0 !important;
}

Doesn't work well with Ubuntu's Unity desktop. The menu items should be hidden in Ubuntu's top panel but are instead ever present inside of Thunderbird. Spoils an otherwise effective add-on.

I don't use unity, so it is quite hard for me to follow your text. Could you make a screenshot?
How can menu items get hidden in a top panel not belonging to the application; isn't that part of the desktop manager and/or widgets only? Did that work with previous Thunderbird versions / does that work without the add-on installed?

Thank you!!!!

This add-on is great, it puts everything where it should be.

I really did not like Thunderbird's arbitrarily moving the tabs above the toolbar without providing any way to turn that off. Rise of the Tools comes to the rescue and provides the means of getting the appearance of the window back to what I consider normal.

Thanks for this!

There's a special place in hell for all doofus devs who think they know how I want to use my computer better than I do! (They'll be sitting at a desk, coding. And all their semi-colons will move, and they'll have to move them all back. Over and over. Every day. Forever.) Grrr.

Thank you for this add-on, as it fixes the thing that annoyed me most in the recent TB upgrades. I can't understand why the developers think tabs-on-top is so incredible that it must be forced on everyone. It moves the identifying label away from the content it's about.

Great add-on, and works perfectly with the Noia theme on my system.

Not working with T.B. 12.0 could you update thanks for a nice addon

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.1.0).

... sorry but I missed updating, as usually the version is adjusted automatically. In my TB 12 installation it worked (seems the compartibility detection didn't :P ) so I did not notice the issue. Thanks, should be fixed now.

I certain do hope we are not seeing an example of "WIndows Mentalitly" whereas the user is no longer given a choice. I am one of those who HATES tabs on top and orginally migrated to Linux and Mozilla because they were about CHOICE. Please Mozilla .. let the user decide. I would hate to have to go looking for yet another email client. Thanks

Hoffe, dass dies behoben werden kann.
Habe Fehlerinformationen an Entwickler geschickt.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.1.0).

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=748555

Thank you!! Worked immediately with no restart required. Now my tabs, which are showing what I have open, are exactly where they should be...directly over what is open! Also seems to play nice with my other extensions (QuickFolders, for one).

So glad I found this. Thanks again.
