Ottima estensione, funziona bene, anche con un messaggio misto, scritto un po' in HTML e un po' con l'editor di testo di thunderbird

Invaluable tool for editors! Will be sending a donation next week. Your work on this deserves more than a nominal donation.

And thanks, Jorg, for advising users to use a monospace font in the "Fonts & Encodings" section to enable accurate cursor placement in the HTML Tab. That solved an issue and limitation I'd struggled with!

Searching and replacing junk html (such as inserted when one cuts and pastes text from an MS Word document or a gmail text into an email, for instance) is difficult because the only search/replace available within the HTML Tab is the Thunderbird text-oriented one. The primary problem from a search/replace perspective is that it doesn't recognize and deal gracefully with line feeds.

Another improvement would be to smarten up the Line Wrap setting with an option to condense multiple spaces to 1,2,3, etc. as needed for readability. That would make find/replace much easier.

My current work-around is to copy the whole message html and paste it into an html editor, edit it there, then paste the results back into the email. Works fine, but a native html editor would be a great service. A tall order for an add-on, I imagine.

But you deserve a rich reward for the work you've already done! I don't think I've sent you anything yet. but will within the month. I hope others do too....

The thing is that the HTML content is processed exclusively by the embedded Ace HTML editor, my add-on is just the glue between it and Thunderbird. So whatever Ace implements will be available.

Other than that I can just suggest to copy/paste the HTML to a tidy program or other HTML editor like you already suggested and copy/paste it back after the clean-up.

I agree, would be great if you add a function to "clean" the html code (all or currently selected text), i.e remove duplicate tags, data-* attributes and style attributes ? That would make it so much more powerful !

Works like a charm! It integrates so well with Thunderbird that I am surprised this isn't part of the program itself. The developer gave me quick and kind response when I contacted him and even added a function the same evening!

OK I could not access your mail but I could debug with what you said here, thank you.

On the add-ons page there is a support e-mail and support website with a facility to send a message. What else do you need?

Works exactly as advertised, thanks.

Could you add a function to "clean" the html code (all or preferably currently selected text), i.e remove data-* attributes and style attributes ? That would make it so much more powerful !

This is a very important extension for me: It allows me to create messages I will be using later in my own code to send them out to customers (bulk mailer). Much simpler than any other tool I could use for that purpose.

Very nice extension, I could no longer do without ti. It allows me to create nice-looking news letter with HTML/CSS formatting which would be impossible otherwise.

A small utility to check if the HMTL format sent by TB is fine. Works well with TB 68.

I LOVE this! Thunderbird does is horrible with HTML. So this allows me to go in and fix the composer's mistakes, which I love!

When I upgraded to 68.1, it stopped working, but then starting working again somehow, so I'm happy again!

Always replaces non-breakable space (\xA0) by   … This is very annoying for me. Is it possible to avoid it?

Great Feature! Are you planning on releasing for Thunderbird 68? Your test version seems to be running fine.

Invaluable tools for making minor tweaks to HTML before sending, or deconstructing HTML received (simply forward it, then click the "HTML" tab).

Thanks Jorg!

Hi,
Excellent add-on, very useful and handy.

One feature missing on my opinion : keep location of selection (or cursor) when switching between tabs, and auto-scroll destination tab to selection.

For example : I need to clean up some formatting code in the middle of a very large message, when I switch to HTML tab, I need to scroll carefully from beginning of content, all the way through a lot of CSS and Tags, to reach the part I want to edit,

Such feature would ease the browsing of the code, and help overlooking selections such as tables or lists...

Thank you for reading, best regards

Angelo

I agree, that feature would be very useful. Sadly I don't know of a good way to implement this. The Gecko-based HTML editor BlugGriffon inserts some fake text just to find it and delete it again "on the other side". I don't consider that a satisfactory solution.

Works exactly as expected for HTML composing. Very clean interface. My only (minor) regret is that it occupies an extra row of screen space.
I wish I knew what it is doing when composing in plain text. The HTML tab is still there, showing HTML with a body styled in monospaced font. Is it actually sending HTML when I'm asking for plain text? Is this just an artifact of how Thunderbird produces a plain text email?

Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (2.0.0).

So-called "plain text" is also HTML behind the scenes. The HTML tab shows you what's going on. That will allow advanced users to "fix" quotes, etc. IOW, when you ask for plain text, plain text is sent, but during composition, the editor is manipulating HTML.
