just received an e-mail tutorial, detailing all the required steps to achieve my goal. Support is excellent in my case.

It's already there, and it is called "custom templates". With these, you can design your own templates exactly the way you described - please check the "Advanced" tab to try them out.

Bonjour ,

Actually "apply filters" to a message from the context menu is a built in function from Thunderbird - it's not provided by quickFilters. The main business of qF is managing filters and easily creating new ones through an assistant that watches you while you file away mail. Also backup / restore / sorting / troubleshooting.

I would still be interested in your use case, can you please create a new issue on github?

I love this so much I still use the old Thunderbird and am not updating until this addon gets updated.
Seriously, why would anyone use Thunderbird any other way?
My elderly mother used it as well until she accidentally hit that nagging "Do you want to update Thunderbird" button
Then I gave up on her and just installed the lastest version.
I wish there was a way to disable that nagging popup.

Dear Jeff - It is updated as of December 2nd (version 5.0.2). Before you update I would advise using the backup feature to save all your filters (in the filters list, toolbar on top) for each of your accounts just in case Thunderbird gets something wrong. As regards popup can you send a screenshot to the github please?

This is the single most useful, must-have Thunderbird add-on.

I hope the author is able to update it for the new Thunderbird, I miss it so much.

The latest version 5.0.2 is compatible with Thunderbird 78 and was released on ATN on December 2nd.

Ha! I wish I would have read this before upgrading Thunderbird! I do have a license for quickFilters, so hopefully that will help with the new QF update, so I can get filtering soon.

I just uploaded a first beta version for quickFilters - if you are interested:

Really nice addon, unfortunatelly not compatible with new thunderbird..
Please, update? :o)

The latest verion 5.0.2 was released on December 2nd and is fully compatible with Thunderbird 78.

It takes a lot of time and quite a bit of money, so if you want to support that financially, check out the support pages. here is the issue that handles the upgrade:
https://github.com/RealRaven2000/quickFilters/issues/14
if you comment there you will be the first to be notified of a beta version!

I have problems when I created the rule (label the mail) and executed it, but when I chose other mail, the label of the mail disappeared.

A must have add-on. It should be integrated into Thunderbird imho. Thanks for this one.

https://github.com/RealRaven2000/quickfilters/issues

Does exactly what I needed, clone a filter. Great addon.

It's a little sad that Thunderbird needs an addon to create custom filters out of existing messages, but this addon solves this problem perfectly. Absolute must-have!

Very useful. I needed it only to export and import filters from my other computer. Sadly that is not a built in feature of thunderbird. The thing I like most about the addon is that it reuses the existing filters and does not reinvent the wheel. Very useful.
I appreciate the work and time creating this addon and bought a license. Keep up your good work :)

I've been using Thunderbird for a number of years because I just could't count on Outlook to move emails to the appropriate folders. Thunderbird and this add-on have worked without a hitch. This add-on saves me time and makes sure that important emails aren't lost in the flood of daily emails that I get. I used the free version until recently. The annual license is very reasonable and if it helps keep this add-on working then I'm all for it. I'm sure the developer isn't getting rich from this add-on, but he should get compensated for the time it takes to produce and keep it running.

thanks for the feedback. Indeed I am not getting rich, but I am pretty much doing this full time - I want to get to a point where this is sustainable at minimum wage, so I am happy about every single user who helps out with buying a license. Check out my other Add-ons QuickFolders and SmartTemplate⁴ when you can!

I'm sorry but however good this addon is I can't use it - it puts a banner ad across the bottom of the screen with a flashing (!) "buy license".

This sort of thing should disqualify addons from being listed in the addon store IMO and I'll be petitioning for that with the Thunderbird community.

The addon seems in general to be alright, but I don't want shitty advertising distracting me when I'm trying to read emails.

---

Not sure how I'm supposed to reply, but I deinstalled. There was no facility shown as to how to cancel the banner, it was permanently shown when the addon is installed default. I wasn't using a premium feature, clearly I can't without buying a license. I did have a hack of the css to turn off the banner, but am not interested in using addons in that way - if you want to write addons that constantly flash on screen, that's your prerogative. It is FOSS and so a little adjusting of the css can remove it (and the code on github seems like licensing could be removed relatively easily) but I'd be wary of software written in that way, so I'm not sure it's for me.

Just to make it clear, I wasn't aware of using a premium feature, I just used the default install, I didn't activate anything unless it was a "drive by" install.

The notification could not be removed, there was no cancel button. The perpetually flashing "buy license" button was preventing me working.

Good luck to you; I appreciate you've created a good addon, but I wasn't looking for nagware or flashing ads.

You have 3 choices:
1 - you can deinstall the Add-on or
2 - do not use the specific feature that is listed in the notification bar.
3 - you can keep using the pro feature and be annoyed that it wasn't provided "for free". Note that the notification can be closed and it will not stop you from working

I would be curious on what choice you took.
----------------
thanks for the edit / feedback. Notification panels do have a removal button on the right, and if it is for a specific feature, the session should remember your decision and not flash it up again even if you use it as long as you have Thunderbird running. It does state which feature and the choice is either allowing free as in beer users access to the "premium" features in order to generate some interest in licenses or some other way promoting it which is usually inefficient. If you check the version histories of my Add-ons you see that I put a ton of time into feature development and (behind the scenes) write 100s of support emails for free (also for my free users). Working on porting the Add-ons to Thunderbird 66 is ongoing, support for next years ESR will likely cost 2 to 3 man weeks. That's why you see a lot of Thunderbird Add-ons that have stopped working with Tb60 - people do not want to do this type of work for free anymore. I am supporting my own Add-ons for 10 years now; had to build my own web shop (because Mozilla, unlike google, does not support monetising directly from their Add-ons "store") and I am helping Thunderbird with Add-on reviews and documentation. I have looked into other ways of monetising but I do not like ads or data snooping - the sort of stuff other Add-ons owners do in order to be "nice". Feel free to submit suggestions on making it better here if you still have a nerve for it: http://quickfilters.mozdev.org/bugs.html

Quick Filters & Quick Folders "a must" to enhance the overall Thunderbird experience. Developer is super responsive to any reported issues or questions.

I must commend this add-on developer, they are very conscientious and wish to do the best, even to the extent of making changes/improvements according to users requirements.

GREAT add on for Thunderbird!

Please, before you spend too much energy here, why not get it modified by filing a feature request or contacting me personally - http://quickfilters.mozdev.org/bugs.html
generally the one click solution for getting rid of Spam is clicking the Junk button, but I am open to add some modifications under your guidance - provided they are beneficial to the majority of quickFilters users. For now, you can remove at least 2 clicks by disabling Actions: "Display Filter List after Filter creation" and "Open Editor after Filter creation"

Somewhat convenient. But why doesn't the "Mailing List" option create a filter based on a List-Id header, which is standard for mailing lists???
