My Reviews

Classic TB2

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This was excellent and my only change to the actual file was to alter the trash icons. Unfortunately, as of TB60 the current version downloads but the program says it won't install because the file is "corrupt."

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4.3).

Download Status Bar

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This extension is so useful that it was one reason I backed down from Firefox v57 to v56.0.2 -- I prefer the degree of control that this extension provides.

Mozilla Archive Format, with MHT and Faithful Save

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The most useful Save As available is no longer workable in Firefox. This was another reason I backed off and downgraded to v56.0.2 after trying the horrific v57.
Every few years, Mozilla nukes its own highly useful software. Why? Because.

ImportExportTools

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Just downloaded 3.2.5 and this extension still works great (Tbird 45.2.0 under Win10Pro). Easily replaces all of the older, now-long-outdated extensions for exporting mail.

Highlighter

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I liked this and used it, but with the more recent versions of Thunderbird it no longer works, so I've moved over to Extra Format Buttons (despite that add-on having its own eccentricities). Very sorry to see this one go!

Select Address Book Text

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

For a while, I used this add-on frequently; now it no longer works with the newer Tbird versions, and there is no replacement.
The problem is larger than one extension -- Tbird's address book display has become buggy and there is a real need for improvement, including the ability to copy text.
It is very sad that this is no longer working.

Simple Week View

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Nice if it worked. I will update to 5 stars if the developer can correct the issues Michael Woffenden described in his 3/3/2015 review.

Gmail Manager

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This was once the best, lightweight, efficient extension for gmail. As of FF33 it is useless.

Today's messages

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This is a well-executed add-on, but it bogs down when you have many incoming messages. I long ago created pre-set searches and saved as virtual folders, and they reside in the folder pane; if you don't like that approach, this works, but it will also require additional screen real estate -- displaying the Quick Filter toolbar. I think creative programmers should be encouraged and this was creatively programmed; however, it doesn't do much for me. On the other hand, I will be watching for whatever new idea this developer creates in the future.

Telephone Message

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

This no longer works; the Send button does not send regardless of making the change described above.

PLUGIN NO LONGER BEING MAINTAINED

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a nice, simple, elegant add-on that doesn't bloat TBird. I have 2 suggestions for you to consider should you get to updating/enhancing: (1) Allow the user to leave some fields blank (e.g. sometimes you don't have a number handy but know the person can look it up); and, (2) Offer the ability to send as plain text or as plain+HTML.

Highlighter

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This works fine (TB11). Thank you for this!
Old review:
This does not work on my PC: Win 7 Pro / Tbird 3.1.7
Like the earlier extension designed to e-mail telephone messages, this is a great idea but does not yet work.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.2).

Chromatasks

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Sadly, this doesn't work with Thunderbird 3.1 so I've had to remove it. Quite useful (if it could be updated).

XNote++

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

My accidental update to TBird 3.1 ruined me -- I can't get my notes back -- if ever an update was needed, this is the time!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.2.0pre1).

Select Address Book Text

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Excellent add-on. Would love to see a right-click -> copy entry function.
BTW, I too have TBird 3.0.4 but unlike Tom Hubert I cannot use right-click to copy a contact's entry from the address book. So: Tom, what am I doing wrong? (Or: What are you doing right?)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.2).

SmartSave Thunderbird Extension

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

PLEASE update this to work with the latest version of Thunderbird! I too will contribute. This is the kind of extension that ought to be part of the basic installation (& you deserve compensation for the good work).

AddressBookTab

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is SO good it should be part of the basic Thunderbird installation package! The only flaw (VERY minor) involves the Address book's menu bar when using the tab: depending on the skin being used, the menu items may appear greyed out even though they're active.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.2).

Mangan for Thunderbird

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

If this could be made to work with Tbird 3 it would be a serious candidate for replacing the (sadly!) dormant Modern Modoki theme for Thunderbird.

Modern Modoki for Thunderbird

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Since "upgrading" to Thunderbird 3 recently I now regret the move -- its appearance is clunky and I cannot remedy the situation with my favorite theme, Modern Modoki. I think Mozilla's default theme should be Modern Modoki & they should pay the developer a comfortable fee for licensing it as such!
